'Christo made this edition to help fund the publication of the book Christo: Running Fence by Calvin Tomkins David Bourdon and Gianfranco Gorgoni published by Harry N. Abrams New York.' Schellmann 95 Christo began wrapping and packaging objects in the late 1950s. His early works made use of items from daily life such as books and boxes which he draped folded and bound in fabric. Later he collaborated with his wife Jeanne-Claude to wrap entire buildings and environments. While visually the folds of fabric in their works refer to classical forms from art history the process of wrapping relates more broadly to cultural practices of preserving shrouding and concealing. Also included is Schellmann's Christo Prints and Objects 1963-1987: A Catalogue Raisonné. Schellmann 95. New York, Abrams Original Editions; Abbeville Press, 1978; 1988. hardcover

Best.-Nr. vm28Scrapbook. Very Good. Soft cover. WORLD PEACE 1936-A STUDENT'S PRESCIENT PREWAR PROJECT BY MARGARET CHRISTO. An unusually thoughtful and substantial middle- or high-school project examining the political and human consequences of the First World War and the increasingly ominous international situation of the mid-1930s. Titled WORLD PEACE and dated 1936 the project considers the costs and repercussions of World War I the military rearmament of Germany and Japan Italy's invasion of Ethiopia and the role and effectiveness of the League of Nations at a critical moment in world affairs. With hindsight the subject matter is remarkably timely documenting a young student's attempt to understand the forces threatening international peace only a few years before the outbreak of World War II. The approximately 75-page album contains more than 30 pages of legible handwritten manuscript supplemented by over 40 pages of contemporary magazine and newspaper articles illustrations and images. The combination of original student writing and contemporary source material provides a fascinating glimpse into how international affairs were being presented and interpreted by young Americans in the years immediately preceding the war. Approximately 8½ x 11 inches fastened with two loose-leaf paper fasteners. An appealing and unusually substantive piece of 1930s educational political and vernacular history notable both for its contemporary documentation and the prescience of its subject. Paperback
