1920 · ref. 1569 — 1920 souple Paris, aux éditions Lucien Vogel, 1920. Une planche en couleurs (24 x 19 cm) réalisée au pochoir, représentant une robe d'après-midi de Paul Poiret. Planche 45 du N°6 de la Gazette du Bon Ton de l'année 1920, une petite marque brune dans la marge. Signé dans la planche. Revue de mode fondée par Lucien Vogel et Michel de Brunhoff en 1912, la Gazette du Bon Ton a vu sa publication interrompue pendant la première guerre mondiale. Condé Monrose Nast en devient le propriétaire en 1921, pour une parution jusqu'en 1925. La collection complète comprend 69 numéros, rassemblant 573 planches peintes au pochoir et 148 croquis dans le style Art déco de l'époque. La naissance de la Gazette du bon ton est aujourd'hui regardée par les historiens comme un événement dans l'histoire de l'édition de mode. C'est la première revue qui allie souci esthétique, exigence de beauté et unité plastique car elle "entend traiter la mode comme une discipline des Beaux-arts à part entière". Cette revue aura une courte et irrégulière existence, un faible tirage (estimé à 2000 exemplaires par numéro), mais une influence considérable. Condé Montrose Nast s'en inspirera pour développer l'édition américaine de Vogue. Planche originale en bon état.

La moda donna è strettamente legata all'evoluzione della società, dell'arte e della cultura. Se oggi indossiamo i jeans strappati è grazie a Morris Levi Strauss, un commerciante di tessuti che nel 1800 confezionò i primi blue jeans per i minatori. Gli anelli colorati ed appariscenti, invece, nacquero negli anni '20 nel pieno del proibizionismo americano, indossati dalle donne dell'alta società per brillare nei locali clandestini. La borsa a secchiello fu inventata per trasportare bottiglie di champagne e il bauletto deriva dalle morbide borse da viaggio: oggi sono due delle borse Vuitton più iconiche e desiderate. La storia della moda donna è costellata di aneddoti, racconti e leggende. Un libro curioso e divertente per scoprire cosa rappresentano e come si sono evoluti nel tempo gli abiti e gli accessori che indossiamo tutti i giorni.

This delightful artwork mock-up for a Vogue fashion advertising counter display featuring a stylish black chenille silk yarn cocktail dress with the model sporting a short haircut hoop earrings and white evening gloves. The same model is shown wearing a beret and chenille wool/rayon fabric evening coat double-breasted pinch waist and gloves. K. Jo the unidentified artist has left the banner blank which would have included in the printed version the day & time of either the fashion display or of the possible patterns. This cataloguer could find no information on the original artist and two possible references to cover art designs for Vogue in 1951 and 1953. K. Jo, unknown
