Portfolio with wear and a few stains. Very good. German-Jewish artist Gustav Wolf 1887-1947 is best remembered for his powerful Expressionist woodcuts exploring spiritual and philosophical themes. He fled Nazi Germany and settled in Massachusetts where he taught and continued to produce expressionist prints about the Holocaust and rural American life until his death in 1947. Published by the influential house of Eugen Diederichs in 1918 Die Blätter vom lebendigen Sein Leaves of Living Being is Wolf's monumental visual meditation on creation existence and transcendence through a mystical vision of the cosmos. A truly visionary production and in a striking elephant folio from the prolific printmaker and artist Wolf. Eugen Diederichs unknown
