1981This is a very good copy of this softcover exhibition catalog. Completely clean inside, and out. Spine not creased. This exhibition was shown at F.I.T. in New York and also at the Art Institute in Chicago. Several texts are reprinted here: Guillermo de Osma from his monograph, which came out a few years earlier, Phyllis and Fred Feldkamp from an article in Harper's Magazine. Also a short piece by Jean-Michel Tuchscherer, the Curator at the Musee Historique des Tissus de Lyon, and another short piece on manufacturing techniques Fortuny used by Gabriel Vidal and Odile Valansot. Bibliography. About 20 illustrations in color and black & white. There were 75 costumes and a number of textile samples in the exhibition. Exhibition checklist laid-in. 11" high X 7" wide, 36 pages. This monograph covers not only the well known fabrics and textiles that Fortuny produced, but also his stage set designs, lighting designs and fine art work as well. Fortuny early on in his career strove to become an artist, making paintings, drawings and engravings. Select bibliography. Illustrated in black & white with some color. 12" high X 9" wide, 216 pages.
