Louis-Philippe wearing a helmet with chain-mail is shown from behind standing on top of the dungeons of Ste Pelagie giving final instructions. To the left, lecherous monks and gloating courtiers are looking on; to the right a moustachioed Talleyrand dressed as a cardinal is in attendance with other ministers in ancient dress or armour.
