réf. 101254Very good. - Over 20 words in pencil by Carl Sandburg quoting Abraham Lincoln on 6-7/8 inch high by 3-1/2 inch wide yellow onion skin paper. The words here abbreviated by Sandburg from Lincoln's speeches "If A can prove conclusively that &c / # / As I wd not be a master so I wd not be a slave &c" were used in the libretto for Aaron Copland's "Lincoln Portrait". There is an indentation from a paper clip along the left edge as well as some minor staining to the bottom left. Very good. Among other sources Aaron Copland drew on Lincoln's quotes from Carl Sandburg's biography of the President. Sandburg was the narrator for the first performances of Copland's "Lincoln Portrait".

2003GUIDA EDITORI 2003 231 PP.
