The book is divided into four sections: “Connect” looks at design features that act either as connecting or dividing elements; “Divide” considers elements that can be used to create rooms within gardens; “Space” explores different spatial types; and “Styles” covers every type of garden style throughout history from cottage gardens to today’s minimalist designs. In -4°, pp. 15, 1 tav.; legatura in carta decorata. Edizione originale. The author was a member of Accademia fisicomatematica di Giusto Ciampini, a small roman academy put under the protection of Christina Queen of Sweden, academy that he was also secretary of. This work is posed as a letter to Francesco Redi: the heavy anatomical aberration of a newborn is discussed, in a optic strictly linked to the field, widely discussed at time, of the generation theory. An ownership inscription under the title page: “Francisci Mariae Campioni”, who was a contemporary ecclesiastic and scholar. Original edition.

Written on a sheet of laid paper 210 × 240 mm folded into six for posting; trifling wear at the intersection of the folds; some faint marks and other signs of age and handling; remnants of wax seal below the signature; in excellent condition overall. The letter relates to the Ingrian War early in the reign of Gustavus Adolphus in which he attempted to assert his brother's claim to the throne of the Russian Empire. While this aim was not achieved Gustavus was able to annexe significant territory around the Baltic coast effectively turning the Baltic Sea into a 'Swedish Lake' and laid the foundation for his reputation as one of the greatest military leaders of the day.
