1947rif. 9217New York: Samuel French 1947. First edition. 8vo 123pp. Ryerson's copy with her calling card tipped in at front. Publisher's red cloth lettered in gilt in printed dust jacket. Near fine book in very good jacket edge toned and with some use at spine ends. Unaccountably scarce later play from the husband and wife team of Florence Ryerson and Colin Clements. Ryerson wrote and published short stories before working on silent film scripts for MGM in the 20s and 30s. She co-wrote the script to the 1939 Wizard of Oz with Noel Langley and Edgar Allan Woolf. This play sort of a lighthearted and humorous battle of the sexes chronicles the emotional adventures of Etta Dean a shy and awkward teenager. This play followed in the footsteps of Ryerson and Clements' The Awful Age 1930 and Mild Oats 1933 considered two of the earliest book to feature teenage girlhood. . Samuel French unknown
