1962réf. 9937New York: Platt & Munk 1962. First edition. 27x20cm 3 24pp. Illustrations diagrams throughout. Staple bound in blue printed wrappers. 4 variously used packets of paper laid in. Some soiling to wraps internally clean and very good. First edition of Florence Temko's 1921-2009 first published book. The art of paper folding origami had already started to become popular in the U.S. but Temko's work coined the term "kirigami" which became the accepted Western name for the art of paper cutting. Temko went on to write some 55 books on paper arts and folk crafts and is largely responsible for introducing generations of American readers to origami kirigami and related international paper craft traditions. Surprisingly for its popularity the book is quite institutionally scarce with OCLC citing holdings only at Ball State and the University of Minnesota Minneapolis. . Platt & Munk unknown
