1667réf. 187512Quebec: 1667-1867. Quebec from province to confederacy A group of Quebecois manuscripts spanning over 200 years of Canadian history from the province's early status as a French colony to the confederation of 1867. Several documents concern the business dealings of the Guyon du Buisson family among the earliest and most genealogically influential settlers of Quebec: around three quarters of all current Quebecois descend from the family. A 1667 copy of a 1656 deed sees Jean Guyon 1619-1694 selling some of his extensive lands along the St Lawrence River while a 1694 deed has his sons Francois and Guillaume exchange several more pieces of his land a few miles north of present-day Quebec City. The remainder of the documents mainly date from the late 1700s to the mid 1800s covering estate dispersals property exchanges and the registry of the barque Dundee built at Quebec City. A full inventory is available on request. Provenance: Martin Schøyen. Together 7 items mostly in manuscript various sizes 521 x 324 mm to 322 x 208 mm. Mostly on vellum parchment some sewn or stapled on spine. Light toning creasing and chipping: a well-preserved collection. hardcover
