1896ref. JC126001896. Ephemera. Very Good. Single leaf tan paper printed and illustrated an image of DeLeon's act in black ink on the recto only 355x165mm; with cloth backing. Some flattened creases from folding; a little light wrinkling; faint inkstamp. Displays nicely. DeLeon was known for walking on a bare cable charged with electricity 50 feet in mid-air a continuous current "passing through his body. beautifully illuminated by the deadly fluid." He "makes an Arc Lamp of himself by holding a carbon in each hand and thus forming a lamp of 2000 Candle power." Step right up. unknown
1517ref. 101616Small letter sheet folded into four pages 21 lines of text over two pages docketed remnant of old wax seal. Splits at some of the folds partially repaired with archival tape a couple of tears in the margins and along edges piece missing from the second leaf affecting a few letters a few words penciled in by a previous owner some aging and browning; despite the imperfections very legible and in decent shape overall. This document relates to a letter to John Reade from Robert Horne agreeing to the terms of Reade renting a house in Red Hook for $300 a year. Presumably this refers to the Red Hook section of Brooklyn. The letter appears to have been delivers by a Doctor Edison and is signed by Horne not the most legible signature.

Softcover bound in printed light blue wraps titled in darker blue. There is a chip to the top corner of the front cover. The rear cover which is also a folding plate is chipped with a large portion out from the top inner edge a tear to the bottom edge and chipping along the spine. 15 pages plus the folding rear cover plate depicting the "Plan of Crossover at Westport Conn. Showing scene of derailment" with 8 pages of illustrations mostly from photographs. Ex-library with the libray's stamp on the rear cover. The corners of several pages are bumped and there are a few chips and tiny tears to the edges of a few pages. A good complete copy of this RARE book.
