The author travelled from Oman on the Arabian Sea in a ship similar to those used 1,000 years ago in an attempt to follow Sinbad's voyages from "A Thousand and One Nights". He travelled to India, Sri Lanka and across the Indian Ocean to Sumatra and the Malacca Straits to the China Seas to Canton in a boat that was a replica of an Arab sailing ship that was used a thousand years ago. It is one of the most remarkable sailing stories of the twentieth century. Its included as part of the entire issue of the National Geographic for that month.

Jacket has a small rectangular chip cut from the bottom edge of the rear panel. Contents clean and tight. "The Virginia & Truckee Railroad became a legend long before the last train ran in 1950. Those who lived in the days of glitter and bustle of Virginia City during the hectic days of the Comstock Lode have been gone for decades. Even those who rode the train to Virginia City as youngsters are vanishing.
