Good- ex-libris/library to front pastedown. lacking leather spine; repaired w/ binding tape; tape is very secure. hinges splitting/cracking; repair appears to have been performed at sometime w/ yellow replacement pastedowns & endpapers; boards firm. leather boards scuffed & scratched w/ deep rubbing to edges; white stain blotch to center of back board. darkening to texblock edges. oversized leather boards w/ fine gilt borders brown binding tape spine. approx 360 pgs w/ bw plates. top edge gilt. Appears to be of 'Edition De Luxe' but numbered outside of the 20 resevered for sale; this copy being 52. Handmade paper remains bright with instances of fine tanning to edges; scattered marks smudges. Foxing appears minimal. Ink-ghosting to descriptive pages from opposing plates. 85 plates with descriptive pages. Approximately 12lbs of shipping. Julius Bard hardcover books

Translated from the German. With 85 heliogravure plates. Inscription from C. W. Sperling on page facing title he was an important gallery curator in NYC with ties to the Metropolitan Museum.
