Il volume si sofferma su alcuni aspetti della figura e della cultura di Boccaccio: la sua vicenda biografica, il milieu religioso angioino e fiorentino, la produzione letteraria, con particolare attenzione al Decameron. L’analisi privilegia diversi motivi e tematiche utili all’esplorazione del mondo boccacciano: la povertà, che mostra una consapevole adesione a un ideale umanistico e segna momenti e traversie della vita del letterato; la satira antifratesca, il riuso della letteratura religiosa nel Decameron; la geografia del capolavoro, con l’analisi di luoghi e spazi in grado di orientarne l’esegesi. Chiudono il volume tre letture di novelle scelte tra la Quarta e la Quinta giornata che mettono in luce la maestria di Boccaccio nel combinare e reinterpretare i materiali delle diverse tradizioni. The imprint is false printed in Paris. Giovanni Boccaccio In French Jean Bocace was an Italian author poet and correspondent of Petrach. Boccaccio wrote a number of notable works including the Decameron and On Famous Women. As a poet who wrote in the Italian vernacular Boccaccio is particularly noted for his realistic dialogue which differed from his contemporaries. Condition: In paper covered boards. Externally sound with some wear to spines and bumping to extremities. Spines browned. Ink signature to front pastedown of volume I. Internally generally firmly bound.
