Pantalaskas Studer is a Lithuanian immigrant living in Paris and when he is evicted from his hotel decides suicide is the only solution. He tries but succeeds only in removing a piece off his ear. A friendly police officer tries to show him life is worth living. Director Paviot makes his debut with this film having three years prior made a short film about guitarist Django Reinhardt 1957 an eponymous collaboration with Jean Cocteau and Yves Montand.
