Katherine Brown riprende il concetto junghiano di Ombra, le parti inaccettabili o non sviluppate della personalità, e mette in evidenza come questo metodo terapeutico offra delle eccellenti opportunità per una ristrutturazione dell'Io, includendo nella sua esposizione gli effetti distruttivi dell'Ombra del terapeuta nella relazione con il cliente. In appendice l'impegno dell'autrice a fare in modo che la psicoterapia corporea non trascuri l'anima e la femminilità nella considerazione che la vita sia in fondo il luogo dove si costruisce l'anima.

Il pregiudizio non è un giudizio avventato o sbagliato, né un giudizio irrazionale perché inquinato dalla incapacità, da parte di chi lo formula, di percepire in modo corretto un oggetto o un fenomeno sociale. Esprime piuttosto una presa di posizione squalificante originata da dinamiche di gruppo, rivolta ai membri di un gruppo sociale diverso dal proprio, per la loro sola appartenenza a quest'ultimo. Il libro delinea la natura del pregiudizio, precisandone le basi cognitive, descrivendo il ruolo svolto dai processi di categorizzazione ed esaminando l'incidenza delle dinamiche intergruppi. Dopo aver analizzato la formazione dei pregiudizi in gruppi diversi per etnia, religione, genere, e gli effetti che il pregiudizio ha su chi ne è oggetto, l'autore ne mette in risalto la frequente origine inconsapevole e illustra alcune strategie per combatterlo.

Avnat les feuillets a2 des deux volumes, une marge de papier ressorti laisse penser qu'il manquerait un feuillet a1 après le titre, mais on comprend mal ce qui peut manquer, à part pour le premier volume, peut-être un feuillet de faux titre pour l'épitre, et pour le second volume un faux titre pour la table, mais c'est peu probable. Etude sur les opinions reçues. Après avoir tenté d'en exprimer les causes dans un chapitre introductif, l'auteur recense les idées reçues et les superstitions selon plusieurs thèmes, dans l'histoire naturelle, sur l'homme en particulier, sur la cosmographie, la peinture, la religion. Généralement, l'ouvrage consiste en une succession de courts chapitres détaillant telle ou telle superstition. Une table permet de retrouver chaque idée reçue. Le livre constitue une curiosité et semble prendre à rebours les traités des merveilles du XVIe siècle, qui reprenaient eux-mêmes ce qu'on trouvait dans les traités géiographiques ou historiques de l'Antiquité. A note to a modern reprint of this important and scarce indicates the regard in which he is still held: John Brown (1722-1787) of Haddington, was a leading Scottish minister in the early eighteenth-century. He was a gifted preacher, and prolific writer of theology. He began life in obscure poverty, without advantage of wealth, position, title, or education. He taught himself Greek while working in the fields. He became a man of deep spiritual experience with skill in preaching the doctrines of free grace and piety. This Compendious View, is based on his seminary lectures. It contains more than 26,000 proof texts and numerous exegetical insights. This single volume of Reformed systematic theology is rich in content and an indispensable tool for students, pastors, and professors of theology.
