ALLO STATO DI NUOVO Virilio, filosofo, architetto, critico d'arte prosegue l'indagine sul postmoderno, inquadrandola in una prospettiva storica che prende le mosse dal concetto greco di doxa. La polis invento' l'"opinione pubblica" come spazio di concentrazione e trasparenza dei conflitti: fin dai primi passi la logica democratica impone che nulla sfugga al vaglio dell'agorà, teatro di un'arte "bellico oratoria" che sostituisce alle armi fisiche quelle immateriali, ma altrettanto micidiali della "delazione generalizzata". L' affinità elettiva fra guerra e comunicazione, scrive Virilio, è una costante storica: il progresso tecnico si limita modificare le strategie di impiego dell'arma informazione. Arma che con l' avvento dell'elettronica e' divenuta tanto potente da sovvertire le regole del conflitto politico, e da indurre radicali mutazioni antropologiche. Il potere "esorbitante" della TV e dei nuovi media interattivi si sottrae a ogni controllo perché non si fonda su ciò che essi mostrano, bensì su ciò che nascondono, o meglio "neutralizzano".
