Minacciate da un perfido poliziotto, le due donne fuggono lontano e si stabiliscono a Camina, villaggio fatato i cui abitanti, destinati all'immortalità, hanno perso il gusto di vivere. Al contempo la Jaiba si rende conto che, nelle notti di luna piena, Albina si trasforma in cagna in calore che porta gli uomini alla pazzia facendo loro assumere sembianze canine. Per curare questo "male", le due donne e il nano Amado affrontano nuovi tormentati viaggi per foreste, deserti e gole montane. Si tratta di un vero e proprio viaggio iniziatico in cui Albina prende via via coscienza della propria origine magica e si prepara a tornare alle galassie originarie cui appartiene. Il bene finirà con il trionfare: i sortilegi si possono sconfiggere.

Betts: 33-46 First edition.<br /><br />Benjamin Glover Laws 1861-1931 was one of the great composers from the heyday of the English School of composition. He began composing in the late 1870s and became a recognized authority on the English School especially after the publication of The Chess Problem: Text-book with illustrations 1887 on which he collaborated with H.J.C. Andrews E.N. Frankenstein and C. Planck. His services as a judge were greatly in demand and from 1898 he used his position as problem editor of the British Chess Magazine to disseminate his views. On the formation of the British Chess Problem Society in 1918 he was elected President and held that post until his death. His other published works were an introductory volume The Two-move chess problem 1890 and Chess problems and how to solve them 1923. A memorial volume entitled An English Bohemian compiled by John Keeble was published as the 1933 volume of the A.C. So supposedly to protect Fat Jack from David Collins' potential wrath Nudger sets out to get the lowdown on the Willy/Ineida relationship--and on Willy's faintly creepy personality. Right from the start then this case seems less than entirely plausible. Then the improbability escalates--when Nudger's multi-city sleuthing quickly suggests that pianist Willy is a multiple psycho-killer: he falls in love then always murders his beloved. All his previous girlfriends have disappeared! Why Because ""like a vampire"" Willy periodically needs the pain of lost love to feed his soulful music-making. And when Ineida disappears it seems that she's about to become Willy's next victim. . .until Nudger realizes that maniac Willy is just a pawn in another villain's feebly contrived kidnapping scheme.
