ill., br. Gli autori dei libri di Ester e Giuditta non si conoscono. Della storia di Ester conosciamo una versione scritta in ebraico e una in greco che esisteva già nel II secolo a. C. Girolamo, vissuto tra il IV e il V secolo d.C. tradusse la Bibbia in latino e quindi anche questa storia. Oggi, nella Bibbia cristiana è conservata in entrambe le versioni, quella tradotta dall'ebraico e quella tradotta dal greco. L'intero libro di Ester viene ancora oggi letto durante la festività ebraica Purim nella quale si digiuna proprio come fece Ester, La festa si conclude con grandi festeggiamenti e molta allegria per ricordare il pericolo scampato grazie al coraggio della regina. Il libro di Giuditta è stato scritto in Palestina verso la metà del II secolo a. C. L'originale ebraico è andato perduto e le versioni in greco presentano forme diverse tra loro. Anche la storia di Giuditta è stata tradotta da Girolamo che probabilmente utilizzò anche un testo scritto in aramaico. Età di lettura: da 7 anni.
