‎o.J. Jahrhunderts. 64 (7 lose beiliegend) Blatt Büttenpapier mit unvollständigem Wasserzeichen. Querformat: ca. 17,5 x 22 cm. Reste eines Halbpergamentbandes d. Zt. (Rückendeckel mit Modelpapierbezug; Vorderdeckel fehlt).‎

‎Der Band enthält u.a. ca. 13 Seiten mit teilw. farbigen Bleistift- oder Tuschfederzeichnungen zu Schlössern u. Tür- oder Möbelbeschlägen, dazu 8 S. Handschrift in Tusche "Drittes Heft, welches von Thüren-Beschlägen enthält, nebst einer kurzen Anweisung wie sie bearbeitet werden sollen." (Enthält die Beschreibung der Darstellungen von vier "Platten", also wohl Tafeln eines Buches). - Weiter von Interesse sind ebenfalls teilw. farbige Skizzen zur Mythologie (9; darunter Theseus, Hermes, Themis, Hephaistos), teilw. lavierte Skizzen mit Ornamentik sowie auf 3 Seiten die Buchstaben K bis Z eines Alphabetes in Schreibmeistermanier (rot u. grüne Tusche). Außerdem viele kleinere, teilweise auch schwach ausgeführte Bleistift- u. andere Skizzen. - Starke Gebrauchsspuren.‎

Zustand von II. - Blatt vier der Folge "Bacchanales ou Jeaux de satyres", die deutlich die Verarbeitung antiker Vorlagen zeigt. Seit 1756 ist Fragonard in Rom tätig. Hier kommt er in Kontakt mit dem Abbé Richard de Saint-Non, der ihn in die Villa d`Este in Tivoli aufnimmt. Saint-Non plant eine Reise nach Neapel und Herkulaneum wohin ihn Fragonard 1760 begleitet. Sie bringen unzählige Zeichnungen mit, die sich nach den antiken Monumenten und Malereien der Campagna angefertigt haben (Jean-Pierre Cuzin, Fragonard Leben und Werk, München 1988, S. 59). - Sehr gut erhalten.‎

‎Seine erste künstlerische Unterweisung erhielt Philipp Franck als Schüler bei dem Zeichenlehrer F. Hoff. 1877-1879 studierte er in Frankfurt am Städelschen Kunstinstitut bei J.H.
