‎Catalogue de l'exposition organisé du 10 au 30 octobre. En frontispice, AUTOPORTRAIT AVEC HALO ET SERPENT de l'artiste gravé sur bois en couleurs par Jules Germain. Préface de Francis Norgelet et liste des 29 oeuvres exposées. Tirage à 500 exemplaires, imprimés par Léon Pichon. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Pour ouvrir sa galerie d'art, Henri Barbazanges loue en 1911 une partie de la propriété du 109 rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré à son ami Paul Poiret, dont l'hôtel particulier 26 avenue d'Antin est voisin. Poiret qui se réserve le droit d'y tenir deux manifestations y organisa avec André Salmon en 1916 le "Salon d'Antin", où fut montré pour la première fois LES DEMOISELLES D'AVIGNON de Picasso. Barbazanges exposera entre 1911 et 1928 de nombreuses oeuvres de Chagall, Dufy, Utrillo, Picabia, Matisse, Ozenfant, Zadkine. Il présente en 1919 un ensemble de peintures de Gauguin, à la suite de l'achat par son intermédiaire François Norgelet d'un ensemble de 14 oeuvres à Marie Henry - la logeuse de l'artiste au Pouldu - pour la somme de 35 000 France. Gauguin quitta la Buvette de la plage en novembre 1890, laissant à sa propriétaire une partie de sa production. A son retour de Tahiti en 1894, il trouve l'auberge vide, Marie Henry ayant déménagé en emportant toutes les oeuvres, hormis celles qui décorant la buvette ne pouvaient se détacher. Le peintre tente alors de les récupérer par voie de justice, mais faute d'inventaire et d'estimation il sera débouté le 14 novembre. La jeune femme conserva donc sa collection, et ne se défit qu'en 1919 de la plupart de ses Gauguin dont le fameux AUTOPORTRAIT AVEC HALO ET SERPENT, peint en 1889 dans la salle de restaurant de l'hôtel. L'exposition chez Barbazanges révélera les oeuvres de ce séjour breton de Gauguin, inconnu alors. Très bon 0‎
