Very Good Turkish Original typescript court document with autograph signatures of judge and two members of TC Istanbul Third Court. (32x21 cm). In Modern Turkish. 1 p. 10 stamps on front and verso of the paper. The Karamanli dynasty was an early modern dynasty, independent or quasi-independent, which ruled from 1711 to 1835 in Tripolitania. The territory comprised Tripoli and its surroundings in present-day Libya. At its peak, the Karamanli dynasty's influence reached Cyrenaica and Fezzan, covering most of Libya. The founder of the dynasty was Pasha Ahmed Karamanli, a descendant of the Karamanids. The most well-known Karamanli ruler was Yusuf ibn Ali Karamanli Pasha who reigned from 1795 to 1832, who fought a war with the United States in (1801-1805). Ali II Karamanli marked the end of the dynasty. By 1819, the various treaties of the Napoleonic Wars had forced the Barbary states to give up piracy almost entirely, and Tripolitania's economy began to crumble. Yusuf attempted to compensate for lost revenue by encouraging the trans-Saharan slave trade, but with abolitionist sentiment on the rise in Europe and to a lesser degree the United States, this failed to salvage Tripolitania's economy. As Yusuf weakened, factions sprung up around his three sons; though Yusuf abdicated in 1832 in favor of his son Ali II, civil war soon resulted. Ottoman Sultan Mahmud II sent in troops ostensibly to restore order, but instead deposed and exiled Ali II, marking the end of both the Karamanli dynasty and an independent Tripolitania. A descendant family with the same name still exists in modern Tripoli-Libya. This document shows distribution of Tripoli Governor Ali Pasha's succession who died in 1269 [1853] by Turkish court order. There is many successors mentioned on this document from sons of Ali Pasha's to Ziya Pasha and his wife etc. Court order has 24 lines and signatures. Dated on the stamp is June, 11, 1930.

"This book approaches the Ottoman period of Robert College, founded by American missionaries in Constantinople in 1863, by focusing on hitherto insufficiently explored aspects of its sesquicentennial history, related to its nature and educational ideals, as well as to its student body. Being based on the college's archives, dispersed in Turkey and the United States, the government archives of Ottoman and early republican period, as well as other vernacular archives, the book delineates the specific place and role of the college in the field of Ottoman education by promoting Protestant ideals through liberal education. The so-called "secular Protestantism" affected the whole concept of education practiced at the college and it affected more or less the students' mindset. The college put emphasis on the formation of strong characters in its students so as to make them able to take responsibility for their own life and development. It was achieved, not only nor even mainly through the course of studies in a wide variety of fields, but also through the all-round atmosphere in the college and especially the personal relationship between the students and their instructors. On the basis of statistics drawn from various relevant sources, the book traces out the dynamics in student enrollment and outlines those periods in the college's history in which certain nationalities were prevalent, not only in terms of physical presence but also in terms of influence in the student body. The book provides also prosopographical research of the Bulgarian and Turkish students, based on data collected from the catalogues of students, preserved in the college's archives. Orlin Sabev (Orhan Salih by birth), born in Shumen (Bulgaria) in 1970, is Associate Professor at the Institute of Balkan Studies with Centre for Thracology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (Sofia). He obtained a Ph. D. in history at the same institute in 2000. He has published three books, two of them in Bulgarian, dealing with history of Ottoman education in the Bulgarian lands between fifteenth and eighteenth century (2001) and with the introduction of the first Ottoman Turkish printing press in Constantinople (2004). The latter came out also in Turkish translation in 2006 under the title 'Ibrahim Müteferrika ya da ilk Osmanli Matbaa Serüveni (1726-1746). Yeniden Degerlendirme'. Since then the Turkish translation has three editions. He has more than hundred articles dealing with various topics in the field of education, book history, print culture, and sexuality in Ottoman society.".

Höcker was a German author of historical novels for children and a stage actor. Oskar Höcker was born in a suburb of Eilenburg, in the Prussian Province of Saxony, as was his brother, author Gustav Höcker. He was educated in Chemnitz. At the age of 19 he became an apprentice actor with F.W. Porth, a well-established actor for the royal court in Dresden, Kingdom of Saxony. He performed in Bremen, Rostock, Reichenberg, Stettin, Meiningen, and from 1866 to 1882 at the court in Karlsruhe. In 1883 his career shifted to Berlin, where he played on all the big stages and was a member of the Deutsches Theater. Oscar Blumenthal referred to him as one of the company's most players, and critic Otto Brahm praised his "discrete art," comparing him to Josef Kainz. He later joined the Lessing Theater. To support his ever-increasing family (he had ten children) he began a second career as writer of children's books, and after 1870 published regularly for the well-known publisher Arnold Hirt of Leipzig. Especially in the south of Germany his books (which came to be known as Höckerle) became very popular. In many of the books he authored he attempted to educate young readers in the history of the Christian church and the cultural history of Germany. His magnum opus is a series of five cycles of historical novels, totaling 20 volumes, on the development of the German bourgeoisie, Frederick II of Prussia and the history of Prussia, the Imperial German Navy, the history of Germany since the Reformation, and the history of Christianity. He died from a nervous condition at the height of his theatrical and publishing career, in Berlin. His son, Paul Oskar Höcker, also became a writer. This book is the second book of Höcker. Ex-libris. He was a historian and travel writer. Osman Aga's most important work is "Prisoner of the Infidels" (1724), which summarizes his adventures in Austria between 1688 and 1700.

Osman Nuri Ergin was the initiator of the studies regarding modern municipalities' studies and gave so many qualified books related to Ottoman-Turkish urbanism and municipalities' studies scientifically. He was also the first scholar who was one of the architectures of municipalities' studies and history of urbanism and education. His best known book in this field called "Mecelle-i Umûr-i Belediyye". The book is one of the main sources for the history of urbanism, especially for the history of Istanbul. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and other metropolitan cities of Turkey function on the bases of what he declared. Since he worked as an officer for the government during the World War I, the time of Abdulhamid II and at the time of the young Republic, he was one of the figures who know the cultural and social changes in Turkish society. During this cultural transformation, he played a role of bridge in between Ottoman culture and modern day Turkey with the help of some enlightened scholars. He had so many attempts to transform Ottoman Sufi culture to the next generations. To reach this goal, he wrote so many valuable books. Although he wrote books in the fields such as Sufi order, grammar, history of arts, literature, he was not able to publish all of his works in his life. This 'Maarif tarihi' [= History of education] is still the most comprehensive corpus on Ottoman / Turkish education and cultural history.
