‎Summary From Topography to Text: The Image of Jerusalem in the Writings of Eucherius, Adomn n and Bede uses topographical detail to examine the source material, religious imagination and the image of Jerusalem in three related Latin texts from the fifth, seventh and eighth centuries. The work introduces an original methodology for analyzing the Jerusalem pilgrim texts, defined by their core interest in the commemorative topography of the Christian holy places. By newly identifying the topographical material in Adomn n's description of Jerusalem, the study exposes key distortions in the text, its exclusive intramural focus on the Holy Sepulchre and the eschatological image of New Jerusalem that emerges from its description of contemporary Jerusalem. The study verifies the post-Byzantine provenance of Adomn n's topographical material, namely, the oral report of Arculf, thus redressing scholarly ambivalence regarding Adomn n's contemporary source. The new insights into Adomn n's De locis sanctis, including its mental map of Jerusalem, provide a template with which to analyze the text's relationship with the writings of Eucherius and Bede. While Bede's De locis sanctis has commonly been regarded as an epitome of Adomn n's work, when the sequence, structure and images of the texts are compared, Eucherius not Adomn n is, for Bede, the authoritative text. ‎Nel presente disegno di geografia, benigni lettori, trovarette il Piamonte con tutte le sue valli et confini…‎

‎Acquaforte, impressa su carta vergata coeva, con margini su tre lati, rifilata al rame in alto, lievissime tracce di colla alla piega centrale, nel complesso in ottimo stato di conservazione. Rarissima carta geografica della regione, dedicata ad Antonio de' Medici (1576-1621), il cui ritratto campeggia nella parte sinistra del foglio; incisa da Luigi Rosaccio (anche noto come Aloisio) figlio ed allievo del celebre cosmografo Giuseppe, originario di Pordenone. Priva di data, la carta viene stampata a Firenze, dove la famiglia Rosaccio si era trasferita dopo il periodo veneziano, e dove aveva una stamperia che, in data 28 novembre 1606, ottenne il privilegio di stampa per le proprie opere - cfr. Casali, Il ‘Teatro” del mondo. G. R. (1530 ca-1620 ca) tra Firenze e Bologna, in L’Europa divisa e i nuovi mondi. Per Adriano Prosperi, II, a cura di M. Donattini - G. Marcocci - S. Pastore, Pisa 2011, p. 56. Dal punto di vista cartografico si tratta di una derivazione del Piemonte di Giacomo Gastaldi (1555). La datazione della carta viene dedotta dalla dedica a Antonio de' Medici, in cui Luigi Rosaccio dichiara: "Con l'occasione del motivo della Guerra ne Piamonte, ho voluto far la presente Geografia &amp; in segno della molta devotione &amp; reverenza che le porto a quela inviarla […]". Non è chiaro se il Rosaccio di riferisca alla cosiddetta Guerra del Monferrato (1613-18) o alla precedente Guerra del Piemonte del 1605, ma sicuramente è anteriore al 1621, anno della morte di Antonio. L'opera, sconosciuta a Barrera ed Aliprandi, è citata da Almagià - che la descrive come mediocre derivazione del modello gastaldino. Lo studioso dichiara di conoscere un unico esemplare conservato nella Biblioteca Comunale di Ferrara. Altro esemplare della carta è nel catalogo della Biblioteca Nazionale di Parigi; un terzo è descritto da Ganado nel secondo volume della raccolta fattizia della National Library of Malta. Il rame viene acquistato dalla tipografia De Rossi, come documentato dal catalogo della stamperia romana, dove è descritta come "Il Piemonte, e Monferrato di Luigi Rosaccio, foglio reale per traverso". Il presente esemplare, magnifico, proviene dalle prestigiosa raccolta di Fritz Hellwig. Bibliografia:R.
