‎Georg Reyser aus Ensingen leitete in Strassburg von etwa 1468 bis 1478 die Druckerei, die als die des Drucker des Henricus Ariminensis bekannt ist. Kurt Ohly wies nach, dass diese von Georg und Michael Reyser geführt wurde. Während Michael in Strassburg im Gefängnis saß begann Georg auf Wunsch des Bischofs Rudolf von Scherenberg seine Druckertätigkeit im Jahre 1479 in Würzburg, die 1504 wohl mit seinem Tod endete. Michael Reyser konnte mit Hilfe des Würzburger Bischofs 1480 nach Würzburg nachkommen. Und arbeitete dort bis etwa 1482 und ging anschließend nach Eichstätt, wo er bis 1494 nachweisbar ist. (Geldner I, 63f., 230, 261ff.) "Die Type 4 des Ariminensis-Druckers ist die kleinere der beiden Typen, die Hain als Typi Reyseriani charakterisiert hatte. Ihre Formen entsprechen ziemlich genau der größeren Type (Type 2) aber die Schrift wird in den Brevierdrucken mit zweierlei Minuskeln verwendet, um dem Eindruck der gekuppelten Typen nicht nachzustehen. Die Schrift wird dadurch unzweifelhaft als strassburgisch erwiesen." (Haebler 1927, S. 62).‎

‎Der Druck des Passauer Brevier beanspruchte Radtdolts Presse nahezu im ganzen Jahr 1490, da er im gleichen Jahr zwei Ausgaben druckte. Ursprünglich wurde der Druck des Passauer Brevier von Bischof Friedrich Mauerkirchner Graf von Öttingen in Auftrag gegeben. Dann aber nach seinem Tode am 3. März 1490 von seinem Nachfolger Christoph von Schachner weitergeführt. The Passau breviary occupied Ratdolt's presses through 1490. He printed two editions, one on 12 May and this one on 27 November. The edition was originally commissioned by Friedrich Mauerkircher, Graf von Öttingen, Bishop of Passau, but his death on 3 March 1490 resulted in publication under his successor, Christoph von Schachner.‎

‎Sehr seltenes Postinkunabelblatt aus dem am reichsten illustrierten Druck von Hupfuff. In diesem Druck verwendete Hupfuff zahlreiche Holzschnitte aus dem Bestand des sogenannten 'Drucker des Antichrist', der um 1482 seine 'Vitas Patrum' herausgab (Oliver Duntze 2007, S.49ff). Der Holzschnitt wurde mit einer Holzschnittleiste an die Zeilenbreite angepasst. Der Drucker des 'Antichristen' ist nur zu Beginn der 1480-iger Jahre nachweisbar. Die Wiederverwendung des hier vorliegenden Holzschnitts nach mehr als 30 Jahren zeigt die Wertschätzung der Holzschnitte im Mittelalter. Mit den Heiligenlegenden des Athanasius (um 295-373) und des Hieronymus (347-420) begann die im Verlauf der Jahrhunderte eine ständig erweiterte Sammlung von Lebensbeschreibungen, Lehrgesprächen, Anekdoten, Parabeln und Ermahnungen der, in den Wüsten Ägyptens lebenden Eremiten und Mönchsgemeinschaften. Die Altväterbücher gehören zu den grundlegenden Schriften der monastischen Bewegung des Abendlandes. ‎5 Vols., 4to (268 x 180 mm), limited to 130, frontis., portrait, a very good ex-library set, later red quarter calf, cloth boards. Huth's collection, which ranked among the finest in England, was rich in incunabula, voyages, Shakespearean and early English literature, and Bibles. He began compiling this catalogue late in life, but finding it too time-consuming, he employed W.C. Hazlitt and F. S. Ellis to do most of the work. "With the assistance of Ellis and Hazlitt, Huth had started printing a magnificent catalogue of his library, with full titles of every item and exact collations, both entirely novel features in a library catalogue. The work was completed in five volumes two years after his death and has remained... a corner-stone of British bibliography." De Ricci, p. 151.‎

In Ottoman script (Old Turkish with Arabic letters). 96 p. [48 leaves]. 19 lines on each page. Printed on paper with European watermarks. A small tear up to the last page with no loss of text. Overall a fine copy. The 9th incunable of the Islamic world, written by Ibrahim Müteferrika and printed in his legendary Basmahane. Known as the most significant work by Müteferrika, this incunable is a political and state-theoretical treatise composed in order to improve the Ottoman government. In his book, Ibrahim Müteferrika used the sources written in Latin in the Europe of his period, and he presented it to Sultan Mahmud I right after the Patrona Halil Revolt (1730). Müteferrika divided the state forms of government in Europe into three groups with the titles "monarkiya" [i.e. monarchy], "aristokrasiya" [i.e. aristocracy], and "demokrasiya] [i.e. democracy]. In the work, the importance of the sciences (physics, astronomy, and geography) in the state administration was emphasized, and it was stated that a solid-state order could not be established in a country where these sciences were not developed. In addition to this, he used the term "Nizâm-i Cedîd" [i.e. The New Order] for the first time and stated that the Ottoman Empire should definitely adopt and implement the new military orders of the 18th century Europe. In addition, this work is one of the earliest in which the "democracy" term is used in the Islamic world. The book was published in French in Vienna and Paris in 1769 (Traite de la tactique ou méthode artificielle pour l'ordonnance des troupes, Vienne, 1769. Translated by Karl Emerich Alexander von Reviczky von Revisnye [Baron Reviczki]), and was translated from French into Russian in 1777. One of only 500 copies. The volume appeared in 1732, about one and a half years after the uprising of Patrona Halil Revolt which had overthrown the system of Sultan Ahmed III and Grand Vizier Damad Ibrahim. The writing, recalling the characteristics of Ottoman siyâsetnâme [i.e. the book of politics], calls the attention of the Ottoman leaders to the results of the state and military development and to the reasons for the strategic superiority of the rival European powers, while strongly condemning the several centuries long disinterest of the Ottomans to the external world. An important feature of the work is to break with the hitherto prevailing nostalgic attitude to bygone golden ages. Although observes the stylistic conventions in as much he speaks contemptuously about the Christian nations, in the content, already turns away from the indifference referring to the superiority of Islam. ‎12 ll.Interesting example of the study of early printing in 19th-century England. The 12 leaves come from the library of the 19th-century collector Dr C. Inglis whose father boasted an impressive collection of early printed books. Inglis believed that the leaves came from an unknown work titled De vita et honestate clericorum ex consilio Moguntinum printed in 1453 by Gerhardus Episcopus. Tipped in is a letter to Inglis by the well-known bibliographer William Blades discussing this matter. Although the text opens with "De Vita et honestate clericorum ex consilio Maguntinensis Gerhardi Archiepiscipi" it was in fact part of Statuta synodalia herbipolensia printed at Würzburg by Georg Reyser in ca. 1486. ‎Historia septem sapientium Romae. Gouda Gheraert Leeu before 3 June 1480. 4to 20.5 x 14 cm. With 4 full-page woodcuts plus 14 repeats. The first initial is supplied in manuscript in a rich ornamental uncial style in red and blue with brown penwork. All other initials are supplied by hand in simple red uncials. The text is rubricated throughout. Most of the plates are lightly highlighted in yellow and red by a contemporary hand. Contemporary limp sheepskin parchment without a spine so that the sewing is completely visible. Kept in a modern brown half morocco clamshell box.‎

‎79 1 blank ll.Rare third or fourth Latin edition the first or second in the Low Countries and the first illustrated edition in any language of one of the oldest and most popular texts of early European literature. It is also the first illustrated book printed by Gheraert Leeu just before his better-known Dialogus creaturarum. No copy of any edition before 1483 in any language is recorded in a Dutch library. Known in English as The seven sages of Rome it is a series of educational short stories within a "frame story" in the tradition of the Indian Panchatantra the Arabian Nights etc. and some of the stories are variations on stories told there. These stories were first published in Latin at Cologne in 1472. Leeu probably published the first edition in the Low Countries in Dutch with only a single woodcut dated 25 July 1479. That edition is known only from two incomplete copies. His present Latin edition must date between that and 3 June 1480 so it is not clear whether it preceded the unillustrated Deventer edition of 1479 or later. Our copy is preserved in its original limp parchment and only very slightly trimmed giving wide margins 1.5 4 and 5 cm. With 8 early owners' inscriptions one dated 1579 and others clearly older four small and mostly marginal worm holes running through the first leaves and the usual traces of age and handling. ‎Köln, Johann Landen, um 1496. Type 1, 2 und 3. Einspaltiges, 28-zeiliges O-Inkunabelblatt mit einer 3-zeiligen roten Lombarde, rotgestrichenen Versalbuchstaben und roten Rubriken. Blatt etwas angestaubt und wenig fleckig. Blattgröße: 9,8 x 14,2 cm.‎

‎Johann von Landen stammte aus der Gegend um Lüttich und begann im Jahre 1496 mit mit seiner Druckertätigkeit in Köln in der "Sechzehn Häusser-Strass" (infra sedecim domos), in der schon andere Drucker gewohnt hatten. Seine Druckertätigkeit endet 1522. (Geldner I, 106)‎
