br. Il volume vuole analizzare da vicino il complesso rapporto che lega la letteratura al cinema: un rapporto di affetto e attrazione, ma allo stesso tempo di diffidenza e sfida. Due arti dai codici completamente differenti, ma affini sotto certi aspetti, che spesso hanno vissuto un rapporto di concorrenza rispetto agli utenti a cui si sono rivolte. Fin dal titolo, "Saggio sul pensiero reazionario", questo libro affronta uno stile di pensiero sul quale è stato gettato troppo facilmente, e senza tanti complimenti, l'anatema politico-culturale. A rappresentarlo degnamente è convocato Joseph de Maistre (1753-1821), pensatore savoiardo campione di ogni reazione, controrivoluzionario professo e militante, e insieme lucido descrittore delle contraddizioni della Rivoluzione. Cioran ne esplora la logica e i risvolti teorico-politici, con lo sguardo di chi si sente lontano dalle sue prospettive ma nello stesso tempo ne riconosce la forza e l'attrattiva in un mondo nel quale le parti della Reazione e della Rivoluzione spesso si intrecciano e si rovesciano dando vita a una dialettica nei cui nodi inestricabili forse siamo ancora coinvolti e dai quali stentiamo a uscire. Come anche il dibattito sociale e politico dei nostri giorni è impegnato continuamente a dimostrare.

Pippo Ciorra accompagna il lettore alla scoperta di alcuni punti critici del fare architettura nel nostro paese. I primissimi articoli della Dichiarazione universale dei diritti umani e della Convenzione europea per la salvaguardia dei diritti dell'uomo e delle libertà fondamentali sono chiarissimi: nessuno può essere ridotto in schiavitù, nessuno può essere sottoposto a tortura, a trattamenti inumani e degradanti. Nessuno. Abbiamo creato un sistema di garanzia dei diritti umani per evitare che l'orrore si ripetesse e l'abbiamo fatto dopo averlo visto con i nostri occhi di occidentali, l'orrore. Abbiamo però evitato di dire che i diritti, come gli occhi, erano occidentali. Pensavamo a noi stessi, e solo a noi stessi, bianchi, occidentali, quando parlavamo di "umani". Per gli altri vale solo quando noi occidentali - o, meglio, noi nordici, perché stiamo più in alto, come se il mondo non fosse una palla ma una scala - decidiamo che valgano anche per loro, per i sottouomini.

Con la chiarezza e la lucidità che ne caratterizzano lo stile, l'autore riprende e approfondisce in questo testo alcuni dei temi trattati nel suo libro "La crisi dei musei" (Skira 2008). Le amare riflessioni di un amateur, una passeggiata solitaria attraverso l'arte di oggi, le sue manifestazioni e le sue espressioni. Il ritratto impietoso di un paesaggio saccheggiato, venale e mortificato, di un'allegria vagamente funerea.

Jean Clair insorge con veemenza contro la debolezza delle attuali politiche culturali, avide di affittare le collezioni nazionali - quello che il diritto canonico aveva denominato simonia, la volontà di comprare o vendere un bene spirituale a un prezzo temporale. La politica del Louvre ad Abu Dhabi, conclusa in tre mesi e programmata su un arco di trent'anni, ne è l'esempio più costernante, un "progetto dissennato che è solo la manifestazione più spettacolare di una trasformazione radicale in corso ovunque in Europa in nome della redditività dell'arte". Questa deriva museale rivela innanzitutto una crisi di identità, una noia o una pigrizia di fondo, un'accidia che Jean Clair definisce con passione e con sapienza, in una lingua superba. "La deriva mercantile trasforma l'arte in spettacolo e i musei in luna-park... I musei stanno diventando cenotafi, involucri vuoti, le cui collezioni sono in giro per il mondo. Per ora in affitto, ma presto potrebbero anche essere messe in vendita... una situazione che snatura radicalmente il progetto iniziale del museo".

Pp. 205-227 a. 2 folded engraved plates. � First appearance of this extremely importent paper in which Clairaut directly confirms the rotation and the orbital movement of the Earth around the Sun and giving an indirect proof of the axiom that the velocity of light does not depend on whether the light source moves away or toward the observer. The Earth does move after all !!<br><br>In 1728 James Bradley trying to measure the stellar parallax discovered stellar aberration - the angular displacement of the apparent direction of starlight due to the earth's motion - and attributed it to the combined effect of the finite velocity of light and the earth's orbital velocity. But Bradley had not given any theoretical proof but Clairaut did in the offered paper.<br><br>Aberration is "the apparent change in direction of a source of light caused by an observers component of motion perpendicular to the impinging rays. During this time the telescope has moved a short distance causing the photons to reach a spot on the focal plane displayed from the former image position. This discovery provided the first direct physical confirmation of the Copernican theory. A second importent application of aberration has been its clear-cut demonstration that as is axiomatic to special relativity light reaching the earth has a velocity unaffected by the relative motion of the source toward or away from earth."McGraw-Hill "Concise Encyclopedia.". unknown

Fissata, ancora, nella continua riproposizione delle sue frasi e delle sue azioni memorabili. Tutti i materiali che portano il segno Diana Vreeland sono il racconto del continuo presente della moda. Sono la sequenza delle ossessioni, dei desideri e dei sogni che hanno preso forma da una precisa idea di stile e di moda, ma sono anche il racconto in sequenza di tutti i momenti in cui lei si è ritrovata a vivere. Apripista, che oggi appare non replicabile. Nello slittare costantemente fra il ruolo di fashion editor e il ruolo di fashion curator, Vreeland ha saputo giocare l'arma dell'interpretation, al punto da innescare all'interno del museo quella sovrapposizione allestitiva fra luogo della riflessione culturale e luogo dello shopping, come si è andata affermando nella nostra era del total living. Ciò che è al centro del progetto di questo libro sono lo sguardo critico e il gesto interpretativo che ancora oggi definiscono la personalissima grammatica curatoriale di Vreeland, sempre eccessiva e drammatica.

"Out of Line" combines formulaic and metrical analysis, expanding the study of Homeric meter both in practice, by taking into account larger compositional structures such as entire scenes, and in theory, by using the results to test models of formulaic composition. If two molecules were to approach each other within that boundary repulsion would generally occur. Thus the very complex problem of intermolecular action was reduced to a "billiard ball" model." In the paper he states that he found an error in Maxwell's theory of gases an error Maxwell was to admit as far more serious. <br><br>"In his initial approach to the conduction of heat in gases Maxwell drew a brilliant analogy between diffusion a transfer of mass and conduction a transfer of kinetic energy thereby making it possible to use the form of his diffusion equation to represent conduction simply replacing the mass of a molecule with its kinetic energy. Clausius critized this adoption of the diffusion equation because given the assumptions mass transfer would accompany the heat conduction and the process would not be one of energy transfer alone.
