Due volumi in 4° legati in mezza pelle con unghie, titoli al dorso incisi in oro, sguardie marmorizzate, bianche, occhiello, frontespizio, dedicatoria, 468 pp. al primo volume, LXXVI tavole al secondo. Splendida opera dell' ing. Baggi trattante i problemi e le soluzioni alla costruzione di grandi opere viarie, galleristiche, di canalizzazione, etc. Con prosa piana e chiara supportata da calcoli seguiti passo per passo, l' autore si muove a suo agio in complessi problemi topografici accompagnando il lettore in una non facile materia. Ammirevole il secondo volume formato da grandi tavole a doppia pagina, alcune al tratto altre in più colori, necessario complemento al testo del primo volume. Opera non comune ed in ottimo stato tranne per i dorsi parzialmente staccati. Molto importante per gli argomenti trattati e rara a trovarsi completa delle tavole.

Interessante e poderoso trattato sulla topografia dell'antica Roma, ricco di nozioni storiche, politiche ed economiche oltre che topograficamente esaustivo, nello stile della famosa casa editrice, vale a dire preciso e tecnicamente affidabile al massimo grado. Fra gli argomenti in indice: "Condizioni fisiche del luogo in cui fu fondata Roma, La fondazione della città, La città Serviana, La città dall'incendio gallico alla fine dei tempi repubblicani, Progetti di Giulio Cesare, Riordinamento della città sotto Augusto ed Agrippa, Le quattordici regioni augustee, Allargamento del Pomerio, Riordinamento sotto Vespasiano, Accrescimento sotto gli Antonini, Limiti di finanza stabiliti da Marco Aurelio e da Commodo, Le mura di Aureliano, Del fiume Tevere, dei ponti e dell'isola tiberina, Degli acquedotti, Delle cloache", più una dettagliata descrizione per ognuna delle XIV regioni.
