[In the preface itself], written in answer to Richard Garnett, Scott accepts all Wordsworth's conclusions in favour of the King. He publishes, from the Nicholas Papers in the BL, correspondence relating to the French edition of de Marsyr [Almack, 56]; and notes by the King in a copy of Bacon's Advancement of Learning, 1640, also in the BL...' (Madan). SUCH IS THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS ESSAY THAT ALMACK REPRINTS IT IN FULL IN HIS BIBLIOGRAPHY (pp.123-142) - IT IS THE SOLE ITEM OF SCHOLARSHIP TO BE THUS INCLUDED.
