The hinges are rubbed some starting some hinges have been archivally reattached. Printed on quality paper. Minimal to no foxing. This set displays beautifully. In the Preface Reeves explains his design 'to put to the press an edition of the Bible in separate volumes that would make a manual commodious for perusal like the editions of our best English books.' The text is a careful reprint of Blayney's Bible of 1769 with certain changes. It is here printed in paragraphs and divided into sections though the chapter-and-verse numbers are retained and 'metre' is distinguished from 'Prose'. Besides Reeves' Dedication to the King and Preface the preliminary matter includes the Translator's Preface chronological Index Tables etc. With Apocrypha. The Prayer Book version of the Psalms is printed side by side with King James's Version. A full page contains 39 lines. Issued in 10 volumes bound into 9. This set has the Prefaces and Notes bound in vol. VIII. Darlow and Moule 985 p. 316. This set would make an excellent gift and/or addition to any fine library.
