Uncut pages with wide margins. Some creasing to first and last few pages light foxing to text small stamp to title page dated 13 May 1846. A rare early Russian language edition of the New Testament. The is the 1838 Leipzig edition published by Karl Tauchnitz - this unauthorised edition was the first Russian language edition of the New Testament to be published outside Russia. The Russian Bible Society had previously issued Russian language editions between 1822 and 1826 but no other edition was published in Russia until the Synod authorised edition of 1860. This 1838 edition had a print run of 2000 copies 500 of which were smuggled into Russia. A good solid example of a very rare item. Overall condition is Very Good Minus.
