Henri-Louis Bergson was one of the most famous and influential French philosophers of the late 19th century-early 20th century. Although his international fame reached cult-like heights during his lifetime, his influence decreased notably after the Second World War. While such French thinkers as Merleau-Ponty, Sartre, and Lévinas explicitly acknowledged his influence on their thought, it is generally agreed that it was Gilles Deleuze's 1966 Bergsonism that marked the reawakening of interest in Bergson's work. Deleuze realized that Bergson's most enduring contribution to philosophical thinking is his concept of multiplicity. Bergson's concept of multiplicity attempts to unify in a consistent way two contradictory features: heterogeneity and continuity. Many philosophers today think that this concept of multiplicity, despite its difficulty, is revolutionary. It is revolutionary because it opens the way to a re-conception of community. Especially for his intuition concept, his ideas were adopted by conservative philosophers and intellectuals of Turkey and the last Ottoman Empire. Halil Nimetullah Öztürk was a Turkish author and translator. He graduated from the Istanbul University Faculty of Law. He studied philosophy in Paris. In 1910, he became a lecturer in philosophy and theology at Darülfunun (Istanbul University)and became a professor in 1928. After the Turkish Letter Revolution in 1928, he published many reviews and articles on the purification of the Turkish language from foreign words. He worked on old texts in the TDK [Türk Dil Kurumu = i.e. Turkish Language Society]. First Edition in the Turkish literature. Overall a good copy. This extremely rare proclamation on the Patrona Halil Rebellion and the fire following the rebellion in 1730 within the Ottoman Empire, written to those living in France, especially Paris residents, was approved by Herault on 21 November 1730. The Patrona Halil Rebellion was a social uprising within the Ottoman Empire, which ended the so-called Tulip period and catapulted Sultan Mahmud I to the throne. The rule of this Sultan and the time until the 1760s was the last period of stability for the Ottoman Empire, as evidenced by the Belgrade Peace Treaty. The Ottoman Empire did not participate in the Seven Years' War, but the defeat in the Russo-Turkish War (1768-1774) destabilized it so that it could never again regain its previous stability. This printed rare leaflet details how this revolt started, and what its causes and consequences were. It is stated that the number of people who participated in this revolt, which was aggravated with the Janissaries not getting their salaries for an extended period of time, reached 100,000, the grand vizier and his grooms were strangled, and many people including officials and civilians died during the events. It is also stated that the news about the events in Istanbul was confirmed by Prince Alexander of Wirttemberg, who came from Vienna to Belgrade. Only one copy is located in Bibliotheque Nationale de France in OCLC: 460213436. The complete original text in French: "De cette terrible Revolution, dans laquelle le Grand Visir a ete etrangle evec plusieurs autres Ministres , & le recit d'une Incendie arrivee dans le meme-tems, qui a reduit 2000 masions en cendre. Le 18. Du mois dernier en reçut la nouvelle de Constentinople d'une revolution extraordinaire dont voici le detail. Le 28. Septembre dernier un homme de la lie du peuple deploya dans la Place des Graces une Enseigne dechiree, en invitant tous les Musulmans de le suivre. En un instant le peuple fut en confusion, les Boutiques furent fermees & cet homme s'etant rendu dans la Place d'Okmedon, auttefois le Camp des revoltes. Hifzi Mehmed Efendi was a Turkish / Ottoman poet and scholar who lived in 19th century. He was born in Edirne Adrianople. There is not much information about his life and date of birth. He studied Quran and took lessons from famous scholars of the period. Madrasah was educated. He became a professor at a time and gave lessons in Enderun. He studied many ancient Greek Arabic Persian Avicenna and Al-Biruni's scientific works. Hifzi Mehmet Efendi has produced many works like Diwan M�nsheat Amal al-Salihat Manzuma al-durub al-amsal. This work by him is an early treatise of Turkish proverbs collection which is prepared by letter by letter such 'Harf al-mim Harf al-elif'. Three copies in OCLC: 254211467.; �zege 12235.; TBTK 13285. To 'Münevver Hanim'. Birand was a Turkish academic, university administrator, botanical scholar, and author. He was the first botanist who worked on plant sociology in Turkey. He made efforts to establish the METU-Atatürk Forest, which was established in 1960.

Very Good Turkish Original TLS by Hikmet Münir Ebcioglu sent to Turkish poetess Halide Nusret Zorlutuna, (1901-1984). 30x21 cm. In Turkish (Modern). 1 p. 18 lines. Dated July 4, 1967, Istanbul. Ebcioglu mentions his article which would be published in 'Hayat' [i.e. Life] magazine and he thanks Zorlutuna. He started journalism in Vakit newspaper in 1927. He worked for various newspapers. He worked as an announcer and reporter at Ankara Radio. He won the Burhan Felek Press Service Award in 1984.
