2017New English Paperback. Roy. 8vo. (23 x 15 cm). In English. 112 p. Infidel Quarter. [= Gâvur Mahallesi]. Translated into English by Matthew Chovanec. Published in 1992 for the first time and received a great deal of attention, Migirdiç Margosyan's cult book is now in English. Through a series of colorful stories, complete with a snuff snorting midwife, a simple-minded church caretaker, and a superhuman blacksmith, Migirdiç Margosyan explores the city of Diyarbakir, Turkey as it existed in his childhood. It was a time when the city was still home to a diverse population of faiths, languages and characters, resembling what New Yorker Staff Writer Raf? Khatchadourian calls a kind of "Anatolian Macondo." Introducing his birth place and region, Diyarbakir which left its mark in Armenian and Kurdish cultures, and daily lives of ordinary people especially in '40s and '50s, Margosyan leaves a both sweet and bitter aftertaste through his peculiar humor and storytelling. In Infidel Quarter, a world in which history is in part a story and stories are in part history glances at us through the doorway. "In my writings, I told about our neighborhood as I saw and lived. I presented the characters and names almost as they are, without making any changes. Most of them, those sisters and uncles, must have passed away already. I wanted to cherish their names and memories in these lines...".

"This small mosque, which was completed in 1561 for Rüstem Pasa, a grand vizier of Süleyman the Magnificent, houses one of the richest collection of underglaze polychrome Iznik tile revetments in Istanbul. The revetment tiles in the Mosque of Rüstem Pasa are generally acknowledged as an outstanding example of the unique richness and superb artistic achievement characteristic of the era of Süleyman the Magnificent. Representing an ostentatious culmination of centuries of evolution in the art of ceramics and tiles, the Rüstem Pasa tile revetments also reflect the perfection of ceramic art at a particular stage of its development. Their lavish employment in this monument may show that Sinan, Sultan Süleyman's chief architect who built the mosque, had not yet decided how to use this new medium in architecture. In his other monuments, he appeared to use underglaze polychrome tiles more economically. The unusual number of motifs encountered in the mosque also points out that neither the decorators nor the architect had decided what designs to favor.".

2015New English Paperback. Pbo. Demy 8vo. (21 x 14 cm). In English. 147 p. Secret connections in Constantinople. This book aims to demonstrate how the Italian nationalist ideas were a catalyst to the creation of national unity and freedom to the Turkish people, prompting a drive for freedom that originated from the élite and moved to the masses in a top-down manner. The conspiracy ideas particularly of Giuseppe Mazzini, one of the greatest figures in the Italian national struggle, gave strong impetus to the birth of the pre-republican Young Turks. Giuseppe Garibaldi permanence in Turkey, his contacts with the Italian Workers Society in Constantinople, his letters and deep connections with Europe disclosed the idea that, the birth of the Turkish Republic, was ideologically supported by Italian Carbonari kinds of associations. In order to illustrate this link, the book observes the role of some eminent delegates of the Italian Workers Association and the Italian Freemasonry in Istanbul/Constantinople and other provinces of the Ottoman Empire.
