Lucas, il sergente a capo della missione di estrazione, ha il compito di scortarla fino al campo di addestramento. Il suo obiettivo è stanare il segreto di Anna e rivelare il dono che la logora. Da trentotto anni l'esercito veglia sulle vite di chi è riuscito a sopravvivere al giorno del massacro, il giorno in cui i Colonizzatori, venuti dal cielo con le loro navi aliene, hanno dato inizio allo sterminio. Ex-dono del XVI secolo sulla pagina del titolo, alcune glosse dalla stessa mano nel testo.
