2016New English Paperback. Pbo. Oblong 4to. (25 x 30 cm). In Armenian and Turkish. 168 p., color photos. Gayan. In his work "Gayan", Erhan Arik, a member of the NarPhotos Photo Collective, focuses on how past and present overlap, and the memory of the Armenians regarding 1915 as he follows the traces of Armenian communities in Iraq, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Iran and Jordan - the stops in the Middle East of the Armenian Genocide - and also in Turkey and Armenia. "Gayan" features photographs Arik took from 2014 to 2016 in Armenian neighbourhoods and villages in Tehran, Isfahan, Zakho, Dohuk, Beirut, Jubail, Antelias, Aindjar, Amman, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Bethany, Yerevan, Ashtarak, Antakya and Istanbul. The book¿s title, Gayan, is the name given to camps in which Armenians who survived 1915 gathered, held onto life at first in tents, and later often in huts with tin roofs. These camps eventually turned into poor neighbourhoods, and in this respect, a Gayan expresses, in the memory of Armenians, both 1915 and the great losses suffered, and also the will and effort to survive.
2016New English Paperback. Pbo. Demy 8vo. (21 x 14 cm). In English. 152 p. The history of the church diplomacy in Turkey. As a result of the hostility of the Third French Republic which endured from 1870 to 1940, many religious orders were disbanded in France and few orders could survive because of the governmental pressure. A diplomatic crisis broke out between the Holy See and France. The French ambassador to Rome was recalled and the Papal Nuncio to France was expelled. This crisis affected also the strength of France in Orient, who was the Protector of the Latin Catholics and in a wide coverage, all the Catholic subjects. During the sultanate of Abdülhamid II, the role of the Apostolic Delegate (representative of the Pope before the diplomatic relations started) was enhanced in front of the Sublime Porte. Because of this diplomatic crisis between the Holy See and France, there have been serious diplomatic conflicts between the Apostolic Delegate in Istanbul and French ambassadors. It is possible to read these conflicts through the diplomatic archives and correspondences, especially through the recently published documents, which are part of the Vatican Secret Archives. During the pontificate of Pope John XXIII in 1960, the diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Turkey started by the appointment of a Turkish Ambassador to the Holy See and an Apostolic Nuncio to Ankara. This project is aiming to focus on the challenge of power between France and the Holy See in front of the Sublime Porte for keeping the right of representing and protecting the Catholic Subjects in the 19th and 20th centuries, including the establishment and development of the French Protectorate in the Ottoman lands, its abolishment and the diplomatic attempts of Apostolic Delegates for being recognized by the Turkish authorities as the representative of the Pope for Catholic subjects, until the reciprocal appointment of ambassadors in 1960.

2014New English Paperback. Pbo. Demy 8vo. (22 x 15 cm). In English. [xv], [5], 122 p. "Hrant Dink never wrote a book. He also used make fun of this saying, "I am an author without any books". Of course this joke also indicates an important reality: Hrant was a man of action in the genuine sense of the word. As the founder and Editor-in-Chief of AGOS not only did he develop discourses and actions concerning the most deep-rooted problems of Turkey, beginning with Turkish-Armenian relations but he also contributed to the democratisation process. Developing discourse and action pertaining to all the issues with regard to the democratisation process of Turkey, particularly the Turkish-Armenian relations; with this study, Hrant Dink, while searching for ways in which Turkey and Armenia could become neighbours to one another in the genuine sense of the word, puts forward the means of mending the past with a perspective focusing on today and the future and a tone that pays attention to mutual dignity. This study he has undertaken for the Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV) has the specialty of being the only book he has found the opportunity to complete. In this work Hrant Dink presents a brand new perspective aspiring to also mend the past with the common future he has built regarding Turkey and Armenia. Even though it had not been possible for the book to be published at that time, this was not an issue for him. Toil was toil, hence it would not go to waste. Anyway, there would be lots of time to make new additions. His labour is at the same time his all purpose. Understanding Hrant Dink's purpose now, is more important than ever before. So that neither life nor death will go to waste.".
