1936réf. 79427Wausau Wisconsin: Lemke Milk Products Co 1936. This complimentary heavy paper wall calendar capitalized on the popularity of the Dionne Quintuplets five girls born in a frontier farmhouse near Callader Ontario. The 11” x 14” wall calendar contains a color photograph of the babies a blue string for hanging on a wall and tear away monthly calendars all intact. A quarter page sheet included with the calendar recounts the story of their birth and the valiant effort made by the attending physician to keep them alive. “During the past 500 years births of 30 other quintuplets have been reliably reported but none every lived more than five days.” After four months with their family the Red Cross took custody of the babies and paid for their care. Less than a year later the Ontario government stepped in and passed the Dionne Quintuplets' Guardianship Act 1935 which made them wards of the Crown until the age of 18. The Ontario provincial government and those around them began to profit by making them a significant tourist attraction. The materials are housed in the original brown paper mailing envelope stamped on the front H.C. Falk & Son Rothschild all in very good condition. Lemke Milk Products Co unknown
