1989Book is in excellent condition in every respect with black cloth covers with bright silver embossed flower representations on the cover, silver print at spine, but with a small rectangle cut out of the top of the half title page, apparently where a previous owner's name was. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Dust jacket shows the slightest signs of shelf wear with a 1" tear at top spine. First edition of this scarce and invaluable work on the art of the subarctic Athapaskans in Western Canada and British Columbia from pre-Columbian period to present day, focusing on clothing ornamentation with elaborate beadwork on jackets, shoes, pants, dog blankets, wigs, bags, dresses, leathergoods of all kinds, and a sophisticated quill tradition. Investigations in this report examined and discussed the geologic hydrologic heat transfer and rock-waste evaluating the feasibility of storing nuclear wastes in caverns mined out into the Columbia River basalts. Unfortunately this continues to be an issue with much of the Hanford Reservation now operating as the largest Superfund cleanup site in the country and as late as the 1990’s 20 years after this report contaminated ground water underneath the Hanford reservation was threatening not only the Columbia River but the entire watershed.
