En effet on y trouve la première idée dune satire de la société parisienne et de ses murs ébauchée daprès le regard candide et spontané dun voyageur exotique imaginaire. "Imaginons-nous - écrit Dufresny - qu'un Siamois entre dans Paris. Quel amusement ne serait-ce point pour lui d'examiner avec des yeux de voyageur toutes les particularités de cette grande ville ! Il me prend envie de faire voyager ce Siamois avec moi ; ses idées bizarres et figurées me fourniront sans doute de la nouveauté et peut-être de l'agrément". A collection of twelve short stories centring around French society both comedic and serious. The work includes scenes from L'Opera Le Voyage Du Monde Le Mariage and Le Palais. The copy with the bookplate of English politician Rowland Hunt Esq. of Boreatton House Salop to the front pastedown. Bound in full contemporary calf. Externally very smart.
