GAMBLING SCAMS is the first book to answer that question and also help the reader avoid the risk of ever being cheated again. For example do you know how to tell if someone is dealing from the bottom of the deck How a cheat can know every card in your hand even when playing with ordinary unmarked cards How professionals mark cards on the faces to cheat at poker Which gambling casinos are most likely and which least likely to cheat you How you can be cheated at blackjack even when the cards are dealt from a shoe Why backgammon is the fastest-growing field for professional cheats How to spot the crookedest game on any carnival midway Mr Ortiz's lucid explanation of the sleight-of-hand moves for manipulating cards and dice the ingenious mechanical gadgets cheats use and the psychological ploys they work with make fascinating reading. And the many entertaining anecdotes from his own personal experiences illuminate the secret subculture of the professional gambling cheat and provide a rare behind-the-scenes tour of the incredible work of crooked gambling. 1971réf. 2240121Luray VA: Shenandoah Natural History Association Inc. Bulletin No. 4 1971. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG/Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. Also included with the book is a photograph which is a slight variation of the one owned by the National Park Service. Along with a note written by "Eddie R." claiming "This picture was taken at Rapidan VA on Sunday afternoon June 3 1930 while being a guest of Lou Henry and Herbert Hoover.". This issue with this note is that June 3 1930 actually fell on a Tuesday and the photo is also shown on page 101 of the book although there is no date listed under the photo. There's also an old Christmas card that was with this paperwork signed by Irma and Juan Savary. It is not clear how this plays in with the photo and Eddie's claim of being a guest but all of these pieces of ephemera were together inside the book so they will continue on to the next owner. Dust jacket shows scuffing and fading along with toning and small tears along the edges. Brown boards underneath are clean with no notable issues. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. There are no signatures or bookplates no library markings no handwriting no pages are torn or loose. Although the dust jacket looks worn and sunned the book itself does not appear to have been read much if any. Shenandoah Natural History Association, Inc. (Bulletin No. 4) hardcover
