br. Vi siete persi la fine del mondo nel 2012? Tranquilli, c'è tempo. Forse arriverà quest'anno. Forse l'anno prossimo. In fin dei conti, chi ha detto che la fine del mondo debba arrivare una volta sola? Almeno nella fantasia può tornare molte e molte volte. Questo libro, che ho terminato di scrivere nell'anno in cui, secondo la profezia Maya, doveva coglierci la fine del mondo, contiene tre racconti accomunati da questo fatidico tema. Tre racconti molto diversi tra loro: il primo, il più leggero, ci presenta uno psichiatra a confronto con le fissazioni d'una giovanissima paziente; ma nulla è come sembra; il secondo, con un fondo pacifista, indugia tra le alture del deserto australiano, dove un gruppo di paleontologi scoprirà ciò che non avrebbe dovuto essere scoperto; il terzo infine s'avventura nel campo controverso della fanta-religione, fondendo in un racconto serrato, pieno d'immagini, riflessioni numerose e - lo ammetto - piuttosto personali.

br. Otto racconti, alcuni più brevi, altri più lunghi, uniti dal comune filo della fantasia che sconfina dolcemente nel surreale. "La Capitale delle Bertucce", una città che è anche una foresta, o forse un frutteto, abitata da scimmie che forse non sono scimmie. "La Vagabonda", una ragazza muta e senza fissa dimora che forse è qualcosa di molto diverso da ciò che pare. E via di seguito, fino all'ultimo racconto, "La Stella", che prova a immaginare con le ali della pura fantasia l'antefatto di quella storia dei Re Magi che conosciamo tutti. Del Renzio moved in to fashion writing in the late 50's an approach from Newnes and Pearson's women's magazine group whisked del Renzio into the world of fashion publishing. In 1957 he was special correspondent to The Times in France and Italy but in 1958 joined Harper's Bazaar as art director acting too as design consultant to Encounter and French German and Italian magazines as well as contributing to Lilliput and Flair. In 1961 he was appointed designer at Topic but within weeks was transferred to Paris as its correspondent. He later wrote a book called 'After a Fashion' published in 1971. Antonino Romanov del Renzio dei Rossi di Castellone e Venosa Toni del Renzio 15 April 1915 - 7 January 2007 an artist and writer of Italian and Russian parentage was leader of the British Surrealist Group for a period. He brought to the British School a wide range of contacts editorial organization motivation and philosophy at a time of wartime hiatus. He was born at Tsarskoe Selo and at the time of the Russian Revolution his family fled to Yalta and then Italy. He explained his desertion from Benito Mussolini Tripolitan cavalry by the observation that Abyssinians castrated their prisoners. As his flight through north Africa resulted in his arrival in Spain just in time to join the Trotskyite faction in the first year of the Spanish civil war other reasons may have existed. He noted in later life that the external supporters of the Republican cause had no motivation to arm or supply this faction and indeed was in fear for his life from both Stalinist and Fascist agents by the time he fled to France about a year later. edit Surrealism In 1938 in Paris he met Pablo Picasso and Andr� Masson and associated with Benjamin P�ret. Arriving in Britain just before the Second World War he was on the fringes of the Surrealist group and had a brief affair with Emmy Bridgwater. His key work Arson: An ardent review. Part One of a Surrealist Manifestation in 1942 was partially financed by Ithell Colquhoun whom he married in 1943 and divorced in 1948. Also in 1942 he mounted a London exhibition entitled Surrealism resulting in more general recognition. Toni del Renzio remained an active pamphleteer until just before his death. He was actively pamphleted against himself by other British surrealists such as E. L. T. Mesens and Conroy Maddox during the time the British movement again found direction with the definitive split with him in 1946. He was involved in the Independent Group in the 1950s and contributed to the 1956 seminal art exhibition This Is Tomorrow. He worked as a journalist art and film director actor and lecturer continuing his collage and painting until shortly before he died at Margate Kent England. He was survived by his wife Doris and their two daughters and two sons. Ma i "sassolini", come li chiama per Attilino e la Iena, le portano anche una nuova terza misura di reggipetto. E Wondy è bravissima a vedere il bicchiere mezzo pieno, così, senza poter dimenticare i continui controlli, la chemio e i mesi passati sul divano, non perde l'occasione per sdrammatizzare e vedere il lato positivo. Con la valigia pronta per un nuovo viaggio e il pc sempre acceso, impara che il tempo è prezioso (e poco), che i veri amici si riconoscono subito - ti invitano a sessioni di shopping o preparano cene prelibate con consegna a domicilio - che l'affetto incrollabile dei figli è il nostro carburante migliore; insomma che vale la pena combattere al massimo per tenersi stretto ciò che si ama. E allora, senza capelli le feste in maschera e parrucca vengono meglio, se hai già la nausea puoi concederti infinite corse sulle montagne russe con tua sorella e, se non hai appetito ma il sushi lo mangi, ne approfitti per uscire più spesso a cena... Ho un figlio disabile e nel guardarlo continuamente saltellare avanti e indietro, a volte disperato, non comprendendo il perché di tutto questo, ho iniziato a farmi diverse domande: Sto facendo abbastanza per lui? Quando non ci sarò più, cosa succederà? Sono solo sensi di colpa o delle colpe vere e proprie? Hai delle colpe? La protagonista del romanzo è nata così. Una bambina non desiderata e mai amata, che nel crescere ha cercato in tutti i modi di avere una rivincita dalla vita senza soffermarsi sul fatto di fare male o meno ad altre persone, approfittando di tutto e di tutti. Margaret può farlo, ha dovuto subire violenze, ha dovuto patire la fame, il freddo, la continua privazione di qualsiasi cosa. Chi meglio di lei ha il diritto di non provare sensi di colpa? Ma la vita stupisce sempre e come un fulmine che illumina il cielo creando una luce improvvisa nel firmamento e nello stesso tempo trasmette terrore, l'amore e il destino hanno fatto la stessa cosa con il cuore di Margaret, facendola innamorare e inchinarsi davanti alla voglia di vivere. Perché la vita va vissuta giorno dopo giorno, con forza e vigore, perché nulla deve essere dato per scontato, perché nessuno ci può dire cosa sia giusto o sbagliato se non il nostro cuore.

br. Esiste una sottile linea fra i due mondi; esiste un canto in grado di spezzarla per chi sopporta il peso di ascoltare. Lei è una ragazza come le altre, persa nelle proprie riflessioni, quando accade: Ipno, un angelo nero, la troverà per rivelarle la verità: c'è una guerra fra due schiere angeliche e lei è la prescelta della fazione opposta alla sua; insieme devono combattere per ristabilire la pace, ma prima di ciò deve sbarazzarsi delle proprie catene umane attraverso una serie di prove. Senza troppe difficoltà lei riuscirà a vincere le istanze del proprio corpo, ma all'ultimo la realtà finirà per smembrarsi in miliardi di frammenti e si ritroverà a fare i conti con la propria mente. "Quello che le Muse non cantano" è un fantasy con un risvolto psicologico, in cui ramificandosi nel tessuto della trama, prendono voce le massime contraddizioni dell'animo umano.

A un tratto in città compaiono dei murales che annunciano la nascita di nuovo gruppo ecologico: il Movimento delle Foglie, il cui scopo è quello di salvare un bosco e la comunità che ci vive. Nel frattempo, un tecnico comunale viene ucciso. Alberto, in carcere, riflette se evadere per tornare a farsi giudice e boia. Mentre Jan e la sua compagna Anna si accorgono di essere pedinati, attorno a loro la città dí Modena sembra popolarsi di cattivi che minacciano il bosco, ragazze coraggiose con il terrore degli alberi, gente che si arrampica su farnie e querce, stravaganti professori di Botanica. AUTOGRAPH SENTIMENT SIGNED by the AMERICAN NOVELIST & POET MARGARET DELAND together with a Typed Letter Signed by her long-time friend & secretary Alice Rollins.
Kennebunkport Maine March 27th 1933. 1933. Very good. - An autograph note penned on Margaret Deland's 3-1/4 inch high by 5-1/8 inch wide card signed with her address printed at the top. Responding to a request by an admirer for her autograph the author has penned "Written for Elinor Schloss - 'Consider the Stars' - Margaret Deland - March 27th 1933". There is offsetting to the bottom and left edges of the card and remnants of tape on the verso. Very good.<p>Together with an 85 word typed letter signed by Margaret Deland's long-time friend and secretary Alice Rollins which accompanied the autographed card. In her letter typed on 7 inch high by 5-1/2 inch wide creamy white paper Alice Rollins explains: "The words 'Consider the Stars' which Mrs. Deland has written on this card she says help her to see things in their right proportion: when we consider the universe especially as we observe the heavens and think of the immensity of space our own troubles and worries seem less important". There is a chip to the right edge and there is offsetting to the left and bottom edges of the letter. There are remnants of tape on the verso likely from having once been mounted in an album. Very good. </p><p>Margaret Deland 1857-1945 was an American novelist short story writer and poet. She also wrote an autobiography in two volumes. She is generally considered part of the literary realism movement.</p> Kennebunkport, Maine, March 27th, 1933.

1933. No binding & hard cover. Margaret Deland was an American novelist short story writer and poet. She is generally considered part of the literary realism movement and frequently portrayed small-town life. In 1926 she was elected to the National Institute of Arts and Letters. The collection consists of 15 items dating from 1895 to 1933 specifically 8 letters 2 Autographed Letters Signed ALS and 6 Typed Letter Signed TLS 3 signed books and 4 Ephemera. 2 ALS; • ALS to Miss Dennison 23 September 1911: " - To be at once bold & old fashioned was characteristic of Dr. Lavender so of course I will write any name for you with a great deal of pleasure." • ALS to Mr. Jacobs 8 March 1913 that she will write her name for him with pleasure. 6 TLS; • 3 TLS to Miss Deane 2 January 1923 6 November 1930 and 15 October 1933 provides her with an autograph believes on the whole that people are nice has the greatest respect for the Hampton Institute sends her book plate sorry to hear about Dr. Phoenix's death noting that Deane is an invalid the importance of hobbies Charles Sargent and forestry. •TLS to Dr. M.J. Eisenberg 18 December 1941 has no photographs but signs her name on a card. No card however letter is singed by Margaret Deland. • Signed ts. that she will be glad to autograph books if sent to her home in Massachusetts but cannot promise "to add anything in regard to what prompted me to write them" n.d. • TLS to Elizabeth Cleveland 25 July 1934 with envelope thanks Cleveland for the kind words about her books Cleveland writing a series of articles on the first and last book of various authors Deland mentions John Ward Preacher and her first book The Old Garden and Other Verses.
