Jean Czynski s'y emploie à démentir des propos diffamatoires colportés par le photographe Nadar, selon lequel il aurait reçu de l'argent de la part de Jean Journet. Document rare, emblématique du petit monde des communautés du socialisme utopique sous le Second Empire.
