The title page to part II volume I shows some moderate foxing. A small tear on the front blank fly-leaf of volume IV is neatly sealed. Bound in quarter red morocco with gilt spines and marbled boards. The volumes contain some wear to extremities as well as a few spots of darkening; the head cap of volume three is carefully restored. Franz Karl Movers 1806-1856 was a German orientalist who taught at the University of Breslau Wroclaw. His extensive study of Phoenician history was well thought of at the time. The first volume discusses Phoenician deities and religious beliefs.
