Chora: The scroll of heaven. Photos by Ahmet Ertug.
New English Original bdg. HC. In special publisher's box. Folio. (41 x 30 cm). In English. 257 p., 107 numerous color plts. Chora: The scroll of heaven. Photos by Ahmet Ertug. First Edition. The building that was originally the Monastery of the Holy Savior in Chora is regarded as one of the most sublime examples of Byzantine art because of its early 14th century mosaics and frescoes. The level of artistic achievement attained in the Chora frescoes parallels the Pre-Renaissance movement that began in Italy and heralds the advent of a new style in Byzantine art. Chora: The Scroll of Heaven takes the reader on a scholarly and artistic journey that delves all the details of this jewel-like structure. The book's text was written by Cyril Mango, one of the most respected names today in the field of Byzantine art history, while its photographs were taken by Ahmet Ertug, an internationally recognized architect and photographer. The photographs appearing in the book were exhibited at the International Byzantine Congress held in Paris in 2002, where they received many accolades. The exhibition was repeated at the Japan Foundation in Tokyo during August 2003 and at the New York Art Institute in May 2004. 30 by 41 cms., hardbound covered with Japanese cloth, presented in a slipcase. Jerusalem in photographs from past to present.= Fotograflarla dünden bugüne Kudüs. Photographs (old); IRCICA archives. Photographs (new); Khaled Zaghari. Project managers; Halit Eren, Sefer Turan. This album was published within the framework of the 40th anniversary commemoration of the OIC, which has the problem of al-Quds and Palestine as its foremost cause. Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the OIC, wrote the Foreword. As he mentions, preservation of the multicultural character of the city with due respect of the populations and the shrines of each faith is an indispensable part of any acceptable solution of the problem. This character is well reflected in the authentic photographs in the album. Due to its special importance, al-Quds/Jerusalem was visited and described by many travelers. Then, the region became the first place of interest of the pioneer photographers. The Ottoman Palace was among the first in the world to acquire photographs of the region. The Yildiz photograph collection which was formed during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II contains a large number of them. The album contains the reproductions of 405 photographs gathered from IRCICA's archive comprising the Yildiz Photograph Albums and several other collections.

Gods of Nemrud: The Royal Sanctuary of Antiochos I & the Kingdom of Commagene. Photography by Ahmet Ertug. In special slip-case.
New English Original cloth bdg. In publisher's special box. Oblong large 4to. (47 x 34 cm). In English. 196 p., 95 color plts, 37 ills. A unique complex of archaeological material survives from Commagene in the first century BC. It derives from a local king, Antiochos I, and is of great interest in itself and for the study of ancient religion and art. The material consists of a large body of monumental sculpture, statues and reliefs and voluminous inscriptions about the king and his gods. The monuments are unique in their quantity, and in being precisely dated and identified. Together the texts and images provide an unrivalled opportunity for getting close to the quality and texture of an ancient cult. Antiochos I of Commagene (c. 69-36 BC) belonged at the tail-end of Hellenistic monarchy and the beginning of Roman rule in Syria and Eastern Anatolia. The scholarly text by R.R.R. Smith describes the geography and political history of Antiochos kingdom, and looks at the archaeology of his sanctuaries and his royal cult as known from inscriptions. Exquisite photography by Ahmet Ertug concentrates on some of the best preserved sculpture from two sites, Nemrud Dag and Arsameia and expresses in a new way the distinctive character and impact of these extraordinary monuments. Roman mosaics from Zeugma on the Euphrates are also included in the book. The large picture mosaics discovered in the Zeugma houses during the rescue excavations of the 1990s are sensational. They continue the tradition of Hellenistic mosaic floors with pictorial scenes of mythology, allegory, and marine fantasy, and constitute a missing link in the second century AD between picture mosaics of the later Hellenistic period and of Late Antiquity. The photography of Ahmet Ertug in this beautifully printed book will bring readers into a spectacular and less familiar landscape of the ancient world, one that felt itself already in Antiquity to be perched at the bridgehead between West and East. The photographs in the book were printed with special inks, and all color-separation and proofing was done at the digital darkroom of Ahmet Ertug. The book is 34 x 47cms in landscape format, and has 196 pages, 95 color plates and 37 figures. Printed in Germany, hardbound in Switzerland with exquisite cloth, presented in slipcase.
