CEVAT RIFAT ATILHAN, (1892-1967).
[ARABIC EDITION OF ANTISEMITIC BOOK OF THE FREEMASONRY] Asrâr al-Mâsûnîyah. [i.e. The secrets of Freemasons]. Translated from Turkish into Arabian by Sulayman Muhammad Amîn al-Qabili, Nûr al-Dîn Wâ'iz.
Very Good Arabic Original wrappers. Cr. 8vo. (20 x 14 cm). In Arabic. 63, [1] p., 1 portrait of Atilhan. First edition of this Arabic edition of Turkish "Kendi vesikalarina go?re Masonluk nedir?" [i.e. What is Freemasonry according to their own documents?], written by Atilhan who was a Turkish career officer and antisemitic writer, who was one of the initiators of the 1934 Thrace pogroms. It was published in Iraq, probably Qirkuk (The phone number of the publishing house is written on the cover). During the Turkish War of Independence, Atilhan was appointed as the commander of the Zonguldak-Bartin and Havalisi Fronts. It prevented the spread of the French Army in this region. Upon the victory of the War of Independence, he left the army and went into writing. In his anti-semitic book "Suzy Liberman, Jewish Spy", in 1935 the Turkish Army gave the order to buy 40000 copies and distributed them amongst the officers. The book is banned on September 17, 1936. In 1942, he was arrested by the government of the time on the grounds that the coup was being prepared. He was incarcerated for 11 months before being released by the results of an investigation led by Fevzi Çakmak. During the one-party period of Turkey, Atilhan who was close to the ideas of Turkism contributed writings to two of the most influential magazines of Islamic politics in early Turkey; Sebilürresad and Büyük Dogu. His writings and his political activities affected the growing Islamic movements in Turkey. He was one of the founders of Millî Kalkinma Partisi in 1945 and the Islam Democratic Party in 1951. He was arrested in 1952 along with Necip Fazil Kisakürek in Malatya as responsible for the assassination attempt of Ahmet Emin Yalman. He was detained for 11 months and 15 days. In August 1964 he was invited to the congress of Islamic State in Somalia. He was elected as the Chairman of the executive committee of Congress. This post was his last major mission. Only two copies of this edition can be traced in OCLC: 320298568.

CEVAT RIFAT ATILHAN, (Turkish career officer and antisemitic writer, who was one of the initiators of the 1934 Thrace pogroms), (1892-1967).
Autograph letter signed 'Cevad' on a paper with letterhead 'Cevat Rifat Atilhan: The Owner at The Islamic United Nations Newspaper and writer of Aykurt Printinghouse'.
Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original autograph letter signed by Cevat Rifat Atilhan sent to an unnamed recipient. 30x23 cm. In Ottoman script. 15 lines. Full with letterheads. Dated 1961/8/26 with Arabic numbers. A good paper with only an 'extra strong' watermark. It's a feverish letter mentioning the ideas of the readers of Italian and the Turkish nation to an unnamed recipient. Very interesting content. Atilhan was a Turkish career officer and antisemitic writer, who was one of the initiators of the 1934 Thrace pogroms. He was born in 1892 in Vefa, Constantinople. His father Rifat Pasha was the Governor of Damascus. The first years of his childhood passed in Damascus. Then he came to Constantinople and went to Fatih Iptidaisi (primary school). After graduating from primary school, he started to Kuleli Military High School, preferring to military service. In his first days in the lieutenant years, he took part in the Albanian campaign. He was taken prisoner by the Bulgarians in the siege of Edirne. The bondage lasted two years. At the beginning of World War I, he was ordered by Cemal Pasha from Mersin. He came forward with his heroism in the Sinai and Palestinian fronts. Upon the conclusion of the First World War, Cemal Pasha from Mersin came to Konya. The establishment of the National Front had great benefits. He met with Sultan Mehmed VI as the first national representative. When Sultan Mehmed VI left his post, Damat Ferid Pasha had Atilhan arrested because of a conspiracy. He was imprisoned in the Bekir Aga Bölgesi. During the Turkish War of Independence, he was appointed as the commander of Zonguldak-Bartin and Havalisi Fronts. It prevented the spread of the French Army in this region. Upon the victory of the War of Independence, he left the army and went into writing. Of his anti-semitic book "Suzy Liberman, Jewish Spy", in 1935 the Turkish Army gave the order to buy 40000 copies and distributed them amongst the officers. In 1942, he was arrested by the government of the time on the grounds that the coup was being prepared. He was incarcerated for 11 months. In 1952, he was arrested again in Malatya as responsible for the assassination attempt of Ahmet Emin Yalman. He was detained for 11 months and 15 days. He wrote 74 works and thousands of articles. He was influenced by antisemitic politicians like Serif Yaçagaz and Ali Galip Yenen. Because of his antisemitic writings, he was described as the 'Hitler of the Middle East'. In August 1964 he was invited to congress of Islamic State in Somalia. He was elected as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Congress. This post was his last major mission. An 8200 year old map: The town plan of Çatalhöyük.= 8200 yillik bir harita: Çatalhöyük sehir plani.
New English Paperback. Pbo. 4to. (31 x 22 cm). In English and Turkish. 80 p., color and b/w ills. An 8200 year old map: The town plan of Çatalhöyük.= 8200 yillik bir harita: Çatalhöyük sehir plani. I was fascinated when I first saw the Catalhoyuk map, a heritage of 'Anatolian Civilizations' which has survived 8,200 years of history, while at the same time I was greatly disappointed that such a unique map was neither known sufficiently enough nor introduced to the cartographic scholars. It was for this reason that about two years ago, I decided to conduct research into the matter. However, as I was already involved in two research projects entitled 'The History of Turkish Mapping in the Republican Era' and 'Historical Relief Maps, ' respectively, it was not possible to find time for the Catalhoyuk map. Once I had completed these studies, I started to carry out my study on 'Piri Reis Kitab-i Bahriye' (Piri Reis and His Book of the Sea) , which has been continiuing for a few years, Thus, my study of the Catalhoyuk map had been delayed once again. When I saw the map once again, in early 1999, I decided that I could not wait any longer. Even though my continuing research would be delayed, I could not avoid giving priority to the study of the Catalhoyuk map. CEVRÎ IBRAHIM ÇELEBI, (1596-1654).
[ASTRONOMICAL PROPHECIES ON THE CALENDAR AND FORECAST IN PROSE] Malhâma-i Cevrî, aleyhi rahmet ül-Bârî. Calligraphed by Isfahanîzâde Mehmed Riza. [i.e. Cevrî's book of star prophecy].
Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) In contemporary brown cloth bdg. with marbled boards. Spine re-backed masterfully. Minor fading on edges. Pages are clean. Demy 8vo. (21 x 12 cm). In Ottoman script (Old Turkish with Arabic letters). 178, [1] p. Litho. Melhame (c. Melâhim) as a term used to mean the great and bloody war that resulted in many casualties; the prophecies based on a prophecy on the future and destiny of the world, the universe, religions, states and societies, the astrologers making predictions based on astrology, and the saints based on discovery and inspiration; It means expressing big, important, terrible, horrible events or their symptoms that will take place in the future as well. In addition, melhâmes are weather forecasts based on meteorological observations. Daniel is said to be the originator of these works. Melhâmes are widespread in the Middle East, particularly in Mesopotamia. The most famous of melhâmes in Turkish is Yazici Salih's "Melhâme-i Semsiyye". This mathnawi [i.e. in prose], which is one of Cevri's well-known works, was composed of the rewriting of Semsiyye, written by Yazici Salih in 811 (1408), in 1044 (1635). This melhâme of Cevrî is smaller than the original (which is 4788 couplets) with its 3617 couplets, which include very interesting astrological and astronomical prophecies in prose. Cevrî Ibrahim Çelebi, (1596-1654), was a Mevlevî Turkish / Ottoman diwan poet and calligrapher. It has a decorative and ornamental head (serlevhâ) with traditional flowers including the calligraphic title "Melhâme-i Cevrî, aleyhi rahmet ül-Bârî", and it starts with Basmala. During the book, the text is separated into two blocks except for subheadings. Some pages have marginal texts and words originally. On the ketebe page, it's stated that the calligrapher of this book is Isfahanîzâde Mehmed Riza. A good example of lithography. Only two copies in OCLC (Harvard University, University of California, Los Angeles) 81057529.; National Library of Turkey 001255744.; TBTK 7482.
