Covers are worn cover edges and corners show heavy wear some soil; endpapers browned with some markings; most inner pages clean. This edition was "annotated" by the previous owner with notes and pasted-in information throughout - all concerning the edition illustrations and information containted within. This book was limited to 50 copies; it is illustrated throughout with full-page steel engraving plates. Additionally this copy was the former property of author William Stone. Stone's bookplate appears on the front inner board and pasted down to the front endpaper is a letter to Stone from the book's author Jeptha Simms dated Sept. 26 1881. Simms is writing Stone to tell him of a new book he's working on another history of New York and offering to get one of Stone's books into the hands of some people in Fort Plain. The letter appears to have torn at one of the folds and a previous owner has repaired it with tape. 297 pages including index; approx. 6"x9". Signed By Author. Limited. Hard Cover.
