SALTBOX AND CAPE COD HOUSES. REVISED & EXPANDED 2ND EDITION.
Atglen PA: Schiffer 2000. 160 pp 11 1/4" H. Marbled-pattern endpapers color and b&w photographs floor plans. This book "is for everyone interested in America's early Colonial homes but it is especially for those hoping to build or remodel an attractive livable comfortable and reasonably authentic Saltbox or Cape. It gives the six best ways to do this. But for you to do it in the charming tradition of our ancestors you must first have a fairly complete understanding and appreciation of the original Saltboxes and Capes. You should know how they have changed and developed over the years. Despite the distinctive design and great age of the Saltbox or Catslide house - it was first built in America in about 1650 and goes back three centuries before that in England - this is the first book ever to discuss it fully. The equally old Cape Cod house is covered in the same way. Approximately 140 houses are featured half saltboxes half Capes. Half are antique half have been built in the past fifty years." Light wrinkling at top/bottom of spine two very tiny light stains on top of text block minor scuff on fore-edge of front board. Dust jacket has minor wrinkling at top/bottom of spine and flap-folds. Revised Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. Schiffer Hardcover
