REVOLUTIONARY ENGIMA. A Re-Appraisal Of General Philip Schuyler Of New York.
Ira J. Friedman Inc.: 1969. 205 pages. "Philip Schulyer was initially drawn into the controversy with Great Britain because he sought to preserve and maintain America's economic and social privileges and not because he wanted to break away from the mother country. He did not wish for independence nor did he fight for it. Rather he fought to get Britain to cede its power of taxation to the American colonies without any though of promoting democratic ideals since he preferred to keep New York under British rule and in the hands of aristocrats of wealth and power. This important contribution to Revolutionary War history and to the colonial history of New York is a carefully conceived work meticulously researched and documented."
