Si tratta di un testo che non esita a fare i conti con quegli elementi sostantivi della politica, sui quali i classici del pensiero occidentale si interrogarono a lungo, ma che paradossalmente sembrano essere scomparsi dal dibattito contemporaneo. Bartolini invita a rivolgere l'attenzione al rapporto che unisce la politica al potere, confermandoci che anche nelle nostre società - in cui pure le istituzioni, le tradizioni, le discipline paiono sgretolarsi, liquefarsi o addirittura svanire nell'aria - il concetto di potere continua a indicare un «fenomeno realmente esistente». He was dismissed to Altona in 1761 caused by his theological views going against the prevailing orthodoxy.
