8.5 x 11white 20lb stock with Levertov's embossed personalization. Dated "Jan 17th 1981."Levertov responds to another Levertov which fascinates her. She includes the coincidence as "one of the amazing consequences of being a writer in contact with other lives." She wants to know more about her correspondent. "I've always been told there is only one Levertov. family. so we are probably related. Do you know anything of your family's history. I would be very interested to know." She notes she will be sending a collection of poems which includes some poems her correspondent mentioned "Bedtime" and "Psalm Concerning the Castle" among which is "a poem my sister Olga wrote before she died." Also she explains that "some references" in the poems "may puzzle you so perhaps I should explain that my father was a Jew who became a Christian. and worked all his life to reconcile Jews and Christians." And for completness she adds "My mother was Welsh. I'll look forward to hearng from you again. Cordially - Denise Levertov." Levertov's holograph envelope postmarked "Boston 19 Jan 1981" included.
