A Happy New Year 1879 Circular Cardboard Piece. Frank S. Smith and Edwin Morton Names Present
Boston: J.A. Lowell and Co 1879. Unbound. Good. no date circa 1879. A single piece of thin cardboard being a circle measuring 3 ½ inches in diameter. A very ornate New Year greeting piece perhaps a trade card of some sort although we could find no businesses mentioning both gentlemen. Text on the bottom indicates a patent was applied for perhaps for this shape. It appears this circle may have been attached to something else at the bottom as if this were some sort of tree topper. With intricate geometrical patterns reminiscent of the Art Deco aesthetic. GOOD condition. A few small spots of staining to the front. Minor general toning. Reverse which is blank with some dark scuffs and soiling. J.A. Lowell and Co unknown
