An act allowing magistrates to hold until January 1778 anyone who had committed or was suspected of having committed treason in the American colonies. Royal coat of arms at head of title. Imprint from colophon. This act reunited the provinces of Lower Canada and Upper Canada into the Province of Canada. The Constitutional Act of 1791 had separated the province of Quebec into Lower Canada primarly French-speaking and Upper Canada primarily English-speaking Loyalists who fled the United States after the American Revolution. The Province of Canada only existed until 1867 when it was divided into the provinces of Ontario and Quebec during the Canadian Confederation. In Very Good Condition: disbound; slight loss at tail of gutter of all leaves; slight creasing along gutter throughout; pages are clean and bright.

After July 20 1775 enumerated goods were not to be shipped from those colonies to other colonies or to Great Britain; and after September 1 1775 no goods were to be shipped to those colonies except from Great Britain until "Peace and Obedience to the Laws" had been restored in those colonies. This pamphlet contains his argument presented over a two-day period. Boutwell was named Secretary of the Treasury in 1869 by President Ulysses S. Grant. Six Acts of Parliament enacted in 1811 1845 and 1847 bound together with the cover title "Colchester Navigation and Improvement Acts." approx. 260 xvi p.; 31 cm. Contemporary half calf with marbled paper over boards. Five spine compartments between gilt- and blind-tooled bands. Gilt-tooled title on red morocco label on front cover. The six acts have been continuously paginated by hand apparently to correspond to a printed edition of these acts. These versions of the acts were however printed at different times with their own printed pagination. These have been edited by hand to indicate when sections were superceded or repealed. The final 16 pages contain a printed index that corresponds to the handwritten page numbers which implies that a printed edition of these six acts was contemplated but such a work has not been located. Contents: An Act for Improving the Navigation from the Hythe at Colchester to Wivenhoe in the County of Essex and for better paving lighting watching cleansing and improving the said Town of Colchester 6th May 1811 London: George E.
