Prens Kalyanamkara ve Papamkara hikâyesinin Uygurcasi.
Very Good Turkish Paperback. Roy. 8vo. (24 x 17 cm). In Turkish and Uighur. 118, [1] p. Prens Kalyanamkara ve Papamkara hikâyesinin Uygurcasi. First Edition. Having shown up at the stage of history since the VIth century Uyghur Turks gained their independence by putting an end to Kokturk rule in 744 A.D and established the Uyghur State (744-840 AD). Kutluk Bilge Kul Khagan is the first ruler of the Uyghur State whose capital city was Ordu-Balik. The Otuken (Steppe) Uyghur State was forced to disintegrate in 840 A.D with the siege of Ordu-Balik (Karabalgasun) by the Kirgizs and resulted in migrations to various places. One group of the Uyghurs who were forced to migrate arrived in northwestern China, established the Kansu Uyghur State and another group headed to the west and founded the Turfan Uyghur State where today's Eastern Turkestan is located. Several prosaic and poetic literary works that are produced in Old Uyghur Turkish between the IXth and XIth centuries of the history of Turkish language were written mainly about four religions. Those works belonging to the circle of Manicheism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam are classified under literary genres such as: kosuk, sudur, çatik, vinaya, abidarma. Tis texts is one of Buddhist peritexts, namely the Story of Prince Kalyanamkara and Papamkara in which the story of Buddha was embellished by extra-ordinary, fabulous events and is written in the form of "çatik". This manuscipt is preserved by the registration number Pelliot Chinois 3509 in Paris Bibliotheque Nationale. Being written in Old Uyghur Turkish, this text consists of 40 sheets some pages containing 7 lines and others containing 8 lines. Supposedly written in the 10th century, the manuscript has more than ten versions in four languages such as: Chinese, Sanskrit, Tibetan and Turkish. The first academic work on the manuscipt was done by Clement Huart in 1914. Having considered the work as deficient and erroneous, Paul Pelliot re-published the worked in the same year. AHMED ADNAN SAYGUN, (1907-1991).
[INCI'S BOOK] [SHEET MUSIC] Inci'nin kitabi: Piano için 7 parça, Op. 10.
Very Good Turkish Paperback. Folio. (33 x 24,5 cm). In Turkish. 12 p. [SHEET MUSIC] Inci'nin kitabi: Piano için 7 parça, Op. 10. Turkish composer Adnan Saygun composed this set of children's pieces in 1934. The paper provides information about the developments in the field of music in the early years of the Republic of Turkey, first generation composers, called "The Turkish Five", including Ahmed Adnan Saygun. The score includes a page of commentary about the composer and work. Ahmet Adnan Saygun was a Turkish composer, musicologist and writer on music. One of a group of composers known as the Turkish Five who pioneered western classical music in Turkey, his works show a mastery of Western musical practice, while also incorporating traditional Turkish folk songs and culture. When alluding to folk elements he tends to spotlight one note of the scale and weave a melody around it, based on a Turkish mode. His extensive output includes five symphonies, five operas, two piano concertos, concertos for violin, viola and cello, and a wide range of chamber and choral works. The Times called him "the grand old man of Turkish music, who was to his country what Jean Sibelius is to Finland, what Manuel de Falla is to Spain, and what Béla Bartók is to Hungary". Saygun was growing up in Turkey he witnessed radical changes in his country's politics and culture as the reforms of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk had replaced the Ottoman Empire -which had ruled for nearly 600 years- with a new secular republic based on Western models and traditions. As Atatürk had created a new cultural identity for his people and newly founded nation, Saygun found his role in developing what Atatürk had begun. It's a symphonic arrangement. Yayla: Musique et musiciens de villages en Turquie Meridionale [With a CD]. Preface de Nicolas Elias.
New French Paperback. Roy. 8vo. (24 x 17 cm). In French. 354, [4] p., 8 numerous color plates, 1 CD.

FATEMEH JANAHMADI, SEYED NASER MUSAVI.
Târîkh-i 'âyîn-hâ wa sha'â'ir-i Fâtimiyân. Foreword by Farhad Daftary.
New Persian Original bdg. HC. Roy. 8vo. (24 x 17 cm). Text in Persian with an English preface by Janahmadi. [4], 415 p. Târîkh-i 'âyîn-hâ wa sha'â'ir-i Fâtimiyân. Foreword by Farhad Daftary. History of the rituals and mourns of Fatimids. "Fatimids knew that one way to change the social behaviour was to use the same rituals and customs that strengthened religious and national identity. These rituals and ceremonies by creating a lively and active atmosphere invited people to social participation and strengthen mass communication which led to creation of unity between tribes and heterogeneous institutions in different neighborhoods of Egypt. Moreover showing cultural rituals reconstructed the cultural identity of their followers. While holding these festivals and mourning ceremonies imposed exorbitant costs and expenses on Fatimid government in general the glorious holding of these celebrations was a reflection of the good economic condition of the Fatimid court. In this work by using the usual historical methods based on accurate descriptions first I have presented vivid pictures of the festivals celebrations and mourning of this era and in the following I have analyzed the afore-mentioned customs and rituals in details. Based on the questions in the introduction of the book the structure of this collection is divided into five long chapters and one conclusion...".
